Bush losing more Freeper votes every day
Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 04:14 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
I LOVE it! Check this out:

President Blames Unemployment On Lack Of Tech Skills IEEE

"During a Wednesday morning (July 30th) press conference, President Bush was asked a question about jobs going overseas as a result of technological innovation. His response was:

"I fully understand what you're saying. In other words, as technology races through the economy, a lot of times worker skills don't keep up with technological change."

Many people have taken his response to mean that unemployment in the high-tech sector is the result of American workers who allowed their skills to become obsolete. This is an unacceptable explanation."

and let's go to the responses...

There's more air in between those ears than meets the eye!

Is President Bush TRYING to convince the rest of us that he is completely out of touch with the average American? That little comment is going to cost him a lot of votes. Mr. President, if our skills are so out of date, then why are so many companies requiring their American workers to train their foreign replacements before firing them? People are killing themselves over this issue, and our President says "let them eat cake".
This is not going to make Joe Sixpack think good thoughts about our President.

I email the White House about this often. But if Karl Rove can't stick his finger up in the wind and feel the anger and resentment blowing from this issue, he must have nerve damage in that thar political finger.

on its treatment of the Lackawanna detainees. It was incredible--he was scathing about how Ashcroft is trashing the constitution.

3. Thank God the country isn't as stupid as we thought.
They'd have to be real "morans" to not get how Shrub's alias is Silver Spoon Junior. He is completely out of touch. If he'd just pick up a current newspaper and read something besides the baseball scores he might learn something.

As for the Freepers, too bad they lost their jobs. I guess they won't be buying very many of those $2,000 a plate dinners.

10. Hey, many of those people you derogatorily call "Freepers"
Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 04:29 PM by gristy
are so much more like you and me than you seem to believe. JUST READ THOSE POSTS in the link at the start of this thread. It would be so much more productive if you would open up your hearts and brains and be prepared to accept their support, should they start looking beyond the Republican Party. Think of them as a long lost son who abandoned his family for the past 10 years but is now older, wiser, and is still seeking the truth. Help him find it. Name calling and derogatory comments don't help.

There IS a ruling class in this country and THEY are the enemy. Their sheep are NOT the enemy.

On edit: Sorry drdigi420, didn't mean to reply to #6. Wanted to reply to original post.

Collectively, they're freepers. Individually, they're human beings with the potential for changing their minds.

I know, I used to be a RW'er a long time ago. Sometimes it just takes a single issue to make people start questioning.

It may be time for me to rethink my vote for Dubya. I've been slowly losing my ability to stomach voting for this man again.

To think that he has lost touch this badly is really upsetting. It's not the skills, it's labor cost. In most cases the skillsets are far lower. Companies are accepting a lower level of support to cut the costs.

And is a shame. But everyone needs to remember what they saw there (and what was cut and is still pasted into this thread's original post). These sheep are average Joes who value many of the same things we do. It is the Plutocratic Cheap-Labor Conservative Leaders who are the true enemy of us all, DUers and "Freepers" alike.

It's almost like we were able to briefly see into their prison because of a wooden door mistakenly left open (though the iron gates were still locked).

He has a history of shifting blame, but his latest natterings are utterly un-Presidential and completely uncalled for. It's bullshit and he knows his big business buddies are doing this anti-American act just for CEO profits, nothing more.

Bush is an unacceptable explanation and he damn well deserves to lose BY A LANDSLIDE in 2004. But with peoples' short memories, Bush will probably do something at the 11th hour to look like the "better" candidate despite it all. :puke:

Those responses he got are, fortunately, a breath of fresh air.

One post said that these industries are outmoded---- uh, no, the jobs still need to get done, it's just being done in a cheaper country. Outmoded is buggy whip manufacture, or Pullman Coach designer.

The same post said we don't like doing these jobs. Gee, tell that to the 8,000 textile workers that lost their jobs in NC this week. Hell, I don't like my job sometimes too, but it beats starving.
