The Oswego River in Fulton, NY drains the Finger Lakes into Lake Ontario. For years, we used to see high water for maybe a week or two in spring when all the snow melted. This year, it started running high in February and I don't think it dropped at all all summer. Way upstream, on Oneida Lake, people are complaining about the constant high water flooding the local roads and threatening houses. The claim is that the State Thruway Authority which controls the NYS Canal System is holding the water levels too high. As I said though, the river never dropped all year so I think the Authority is doing its best to try to drop the lake levels.
The point of this entire song and dance is that Global Climate Change is having all kinds of unexpected effects including higher water levels well away from any sea shore.
