Good food suggestions to take to a friend's bonfire/drum circle tonight?
The host is doing the main dish of a big pot of soup.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to take a bag of big marshmellows to roast, but is there any other good "campfire food?"

1. I make campfire cakes.....take some large oranges
Cut off about the top two-three inches of each one and scoop out the meat of them. Careful to leave them whole with no holes in the shells.
Bring a gallon ziploc bag which contains already made Jiffy yellow cake mix.

Bring some tinfoil.

Pour some of the cake mix to the top of one of the orange cups. Place the other orange piece on top to form a ball. Wrap tightly in tinfoil in several layers. Drop into the coals and roast, turning often for 20 minutes.

Take out and let cool slightly and then open and eat with plastic spoons. VERY fun and yummy.

3. Take some hummus...
And some pita bread. If you have one of those things for making sandwiches over a fire, great. If you don't, their cheap to buy at the store. Get some pita bread, roast it over the fire, and eat it with hummus. Yummm...

4. My favorite campfire food
I forget what this is called, but you cook some hamburger patties along with some potatoes, peas and carrots, then crumble the hamburgers and wrap it all up in tinfoil. When dinner time comes, just throw them in the fire for 3-5 minutes to heat. It's an old Boy Scout thing.
