DU Censorship? Here's the best solution...
Create your own website! It doesn't have to be an alternative to DU; it can be an auxiliary, or something completely separate. A number of my posts have been deleted, so I just post my "mainstream" stuff here, and post my more "radical" (by mainstream standards) ideas on my personal websites.

You could even link one of your DU posts to your own website - "See this page for what I REALLY think about this topic!"

We desperately need more representatation in cyberspace. If every member of DU had a website with an average of five pages, that would be more than 150,000 web pages. If every site was linked to DU, it would boost its search engine rankings even more.

And if you don't want to link to DU, I can always use the publicity for my sites!

4. Actually, I'm thinking of making a blog.
I really don't know much about blogs - they're sort of an online diary, right? - but they appear to be the hip new thing.

My original political site is based at http://www.geobop.com/education/ It began as an education reform site but expanded to include more political topics. It's now in some dissaray, as I'm breaking it up into separate sites.

My most provocative site is Jail4Bush - http://www.jail4bush.org. One ISP actually dumped it, claiming it violates the Patriot Act. I hope to revise it soon.

I'm developing a K-12 political site at http://www.politix.us.

Most of my adult political sites can (eventually) be accessed from http://www.rep5.org - but it's a mess right now, not even officially online.

I think we have a official freeper? None of you of course, just the person who complained about the censorship. I cannot call him/her by name...against the rules!!!

15. I've kept my old liberal pages... but need a site to put them on.
I refuse to use Geocities and I want to keep my business website separate from my political website. If anybody has suggestions on free webpages that would give me even 3MB, I'd much appreciate it!

Thx!

16. You can get good webhosting really cheap - $10 a month or less.
If that's still too much, I might consider hosting your site, under certain conditions. I have a resellers account, which means I can host separate domains. Though I eventually want to charge for hosting, I might take on a few sites at no charge if they agree to link to my site - no advertising required, just a simple link.

I could append your site to one of my sites (a "subweb"), or you could have your own domain name, if you want to pay for that (about $12 a year).

If you get your own domain name, I THINK I can set it up so that you would have your own control panel and can publish pages to your site and play around with certain features. It might be of some help to me to have a "sample client" just as a learning experience. You wouldn't have to pay for hosting, but you could give me some feedback regarding how everything works.

One big catch is that I can't guarantee how long I'll be online. I've already used up my unemployment, and I'm going to crash and burn if I don't get my own business going in the next few months. But if that happens, you won't be out any money - you can just look for someone else to host your site.

If you're interested, send me a private message.

17. There's nothing that DU won't allow (content wise) ...
...that I could imagine having any interest in hearing. 99.99% of DU rules have to do with civility, not thematic content. If your stuff keeps getting deleted, odds are its because you're breaking one of those kinds of rules.

And if it is really getting deleted becuse its too "radical" then its probably not actually radical as much as it is sick and wrong. If not, then i'd really like to hear some examples of content that cannot be discussed here at DU..

18. Sure there is! They are a private business

They don't get public funds, so they're not bound by the first amendment, but a business is going to have some concerns that a personal not-for-profit site doesn't have - that is the case whether the topic is politics or hamster care.

A private individual not only has the freedom of not worrying about business concerns, but content that the bush regime doesn't like, or has decreed to be terrorism, or Canadian, or whatever the anti-Patriot watchword of the week is, is much more likely to go unnoticed or even ignored than the same thing on a high-profile business site.

Just as the admins here have said several times, they make the rules, and enforcement of the rules is subjective and arbitrary - that's their right, it's their site, and on your site you can do the same thing!
