4. Lawsuit waiting to happen.
Guaranteed some dope will try to use it while driving, get into a wreck and sue. Who was it that said, "No one ever went broke betting on the stupidity of the American public?"

5. And
that would be the lawsuit used as an example for tort reform

I don't think something like this should even be marketed. Why on earth would you want to attach your laptop to your steering wheel unless you wanted to use it while driving. I've seen enough people doing strange things while driving to know that is exactly what will happen. I think those stupid navigation On-star map things are also accidents waiting to happen, if they haven't already.

7. Amen
I am reminded of the RV owner who set the cruise control, went to have a cup of coffee and sued when he went into a ditch. HE WON!

...and you tangle your arms on it, you're dead meat (despite the disclaimers, you know some yahoo will try to use it while driving). I use my laptop when I drive (for GPS, as well as client's paperwork), but I installed a special mount that keeps it away from my arms.

I agree, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen...

Note the link to his Holiday Gift Guide.

From the guide:
This means that, finally, the busy executive can make productive use of driving time formerly wasted by using the steering wheel to actually steer. This will definitely put him or her on the ''fast track'' to success! Or the hospital. But the important thing is, it will be fast.

18. I know people who have those
They're called contractors.

Two car dealers in this area--a Ford dealer and a Dodge dealer--sell "contractor trucks"--extended-cab one-ton diesel pickups with eight-foot beds. These things are like mobile offices--they have a place to store a laptop, a power inverter, a 12v coffeemaker, a lockable cabinet behind the seat for your power tools. And you get the laptop with them. The Ford dealer even scored some little one-drawer filing cabinets and bolted them to the floor behind the seat. These trucks show up at Home Depot all the time to pick up supplies.

There's only one problem: when you use the laptop, you have three choices: try to sit it in your lap while you're behind the wheel (you go try it and see if it works; I assure you it does not), put the thing between the seats and try to type (all contractors have bad backs, and this would not help matters any) or sit in the passenger seat, which would work except that contractors have been known to carry clients, employees or building inspectors.

So they buy these little gizmos, drive to the jobsite, hang the laptop hanger on the steering wheel and go to work.

Why this is in a catalog for executives I don't know, but contractors like them.

23. Only in America, I hope... America, "Land o' Lawsuits"
When did common sense die out in favor of blind petty profit anyway? Oh yeah, 1980...

Stupid, mindless, insane...

But, just as a person sued McDonalds (and won :eyes: ) for spilling hot coffee on her lap while driving, expect users of this idioctic device to sue when they cause accidents AND WIN.
