....honestly I've only read "Blackwood Farm" so far...and became a fan....ordered a 3 in 1 book of "Interview With A Vampire...Vampire Lestat...and Queen Of The Damned" and the sequal to 'BF' "Blood Canticle" today and both were only 15.00 from the Sci-Fi Book Club...which was havin' a special buy two get one free so I got "Blood and Gold" too! Can't wait to read all these and while I'm waitin' I got "Tale Of The Body Theif" from the library...also got Vampire Lestat and read half of it already...but will wait to finish it once I get my own copy...well I talked my SO into gettin' these as it's his membership to the book club!

1. "The Tale of the Body Thief"
Lestat swaps bodies with a mortal...in hopes of becoming mortal himself. Intriguing plot....and my favorite Anne Rice novel.

4. I've never been to New Orleans...
But since reading Anne Rice's books, I really want to visit New Orleans. Ms. Rice describes the city so wonderfully.

But I'm not sure if the reason is the same. Lots of page turning, little satisfaction. I gave up on Anne after the 2nd one.

18. Check out what I just found The Witching Hour series
The Witching Hour Series
Anne Rice, The Witching Hour (Ballentine Books, 1993)
Anne Rice, Lasher (Ballentine Books, 1995)
Anne Rice, Taltos (Ballentine Books, 1996)
Anne Rice, Merrick (Ballentine Books, 2001)

( I haven't read Merrick yet , didn't even know about it:bounce: )

A man, somewhere in the United States, goes quietly insane. Nestled in the heartland of New Orleans a woman rocks in a rocking chair in her house. A ghost is there comforting her , whispering things to her. But, please, don't touch her jade necklace. You wouldn't want to disturb her. She has been like this for weeks. Sad, isn't it? To never speak, to never hear the sound of your own voice. All because of a secret. One that, if revealed, could destroy her very soul.

So begins The Witching Hour. In this engrossing and hypnotic tale of witchcraft and the occult spanning four centuries, we meet a great dynasty of witches -- a family given to poetry and incest, to murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is haunted by a powerful, dangerous and seductive being.

Three main characters, Rowan Mayfair, Michael Curry and Aaron Lightner are brought together because of events beyond their control. What they don't know is that they are tied to each other, as surely as they can bleed.

The Lives of the Mayfair Witches

These thirteen witches are the Mayfair Witches that controlled or were controlled by Lasher for 300 years. Suzanne called upon the evil spirit, not knowing what she was doing and upon her death, he became the willing spirit of Deborah. Lasher then appeared to each witch when they were babies and this is how he was handed down through the generations. Each witch handled her time and reign with Lasher differently. Some loved it and gained all they could from it, like Deborah and others suffered greatly from his presence, like Deidre. What they all did not know, was that they were all a part of his cunning plan to create a witch strong enough and powerful enough for him to pass through and become flesh ... the thirteenth witch.

One will rise who is too evil.
One will rise who is too good.
Twixt the two a witch shall falter
and therby open wide the door.

Pain and suffering as they stumble
Blood and fear before they learn.
Woe betide this Springtime Eden
Now the vale of those who mourn.

Beware the watchers in that hour
bar the doctors from the house
Scholars will but nourish evil
Scientists would raise it high.

Let the devil speak his story
Let him rouse the angels might
Make the dead come back to witness
Put the alchemist to flight.

Slay the flesh that is not human
Trust to weapons crude and cruel
For, dying on the verge of wisdom,
Tortured souls may seek the light.

Crush the babes who are not children
Show no mercy to the pure
Else shall Eden have no Springtime.
Else shall our kind reign no more.

Ancient Evelyn Mayfair

26. I like her stuff under the A. N. Roquelaure pseudonym
Not that I fancy those extremes really, just a very good read. I love this type of genre, but only the well-written books within it.

27. Cool...seems like everything she writes gets a nod....
....can't believe I'd not read her before now too as I'm an avid reader and she's from my own beloved Louisiana as well...I'd received 'Blackwood Farm' by mistake from the book club...but decided to keep it regardless...now I've found I enjoy her style of writing...and now have a lot to keep me busy reading for a time to come! :)

29. Believe it or not...
My mom died a couple of years ago(aged 72)and what do you suppose my sister and I found when we were going through her books? Yep...the Sleeping Beauty series Anne Rice wrote under that pseudonym. My sister was on about how "surely mother didn't know what these were when she bought them". I bet she did,though...and I noticed that my sister packed them up with her other choices to take home:)

31. Feast of All Saints
Loved that book.

Memnoch the Devil, Tales of the Body Thief and Interview with the Vampire are next.

The Mummy was fun; sort of like an old black and white horror movie.

I haven't been able to get into her last few books. I get about half way through and stop caring.
