5. Yes, I am quite sure I can see it on Google.
I know that there is a gap and, thus, that is the difference between the taint and the other.

I just wondered what other people thought. :)

Thanks, petronius.

2. It's a plant. Very pretty.
Agapanthus africanus is also known as "Lily of the Nile" Purple flowers, very tropical.

3. Something that dies
in Oklahoma during winter. :(

I have to grow it in pots so I can put them in the garage during the winter.

4. It's fucking everywhere in SoCal that's what. HomeDepot cheap &
therefore pretty much ubiquitous, from housing developments, to industrial parks.

It's pedestrian landscaping, along with impatiens & pony packs of petunias.

Its only reedeming quality is that hummingbirds like it.

6. My dear catzies...
I have a lot of the dwarf version in my yard just for the hummingbirds...

And I think it's very lovely!

If you're far enough away from the plant, it looks as though the flowers are floating in mid-air...

7. Hey, CP. How hardy is it? Could I grow it here?
I'm 1/2 way through a backyard re-do and I would LOVE some plants that attract hummingbirds. It's going to be 34 tonight. Do you think that this plant could make it here?

How ya doing BTW?

9. If you want killer hummingbird plants
Why not go native?

Monkey flowers, currants, snapdragons, penstemons, lobelias, columbines, honeysuckles, sages, and of course California fuschia are all terrific hummingbird plants.

11. Okay, DUer's resident aviary expert.
I have a request. I live in VA, right now it is 34 degrees, doesn't get TOO much colder than that. I would ADORE having some hummingbird enticing plants here.

I just redid the backyard, so I am totally open to suggestion. CP suggested the nursery here but, honestly, they weren't much help. They said they didn't get a lot of folks requesting hummingbird attracting plants.

I just think that would be so beautiful. I would also love to do the butterfly attracting plant thing.

TIA, XemaSab!!!!

13. Why did I think you were in California?
:D

Have you tried looking online for hummingbird attracting plants that will grow in your area?

There should be many resources on the google.

Also try http://www.vnps.org/

But don't plant African plants! :P

10. My dear Midlo!
Hmmm........how cold does it get in VA? I think it needs fairly warm days...

I honestly don't know how well it does in cooler climates......

We have weather that resembles Italy's.......it doesn't freeze here...

I'd check with your local gardener/nursery. They'd know for sure...

I'm good......being a mod is more work than I expected...But the forum is great with lots of support!

And the MOd Hot Tub? The best!

These are! I appreciate them better from a distance.

Their foliage is long leaves close to the ground in a cluster formation, with the long bare stalks standing tall and ending in a burst of color, either a shade of blue/purple or a lovely pure white. They bloom in the warmest weather, and the rest of the year provide a nice green clustered border plant. They're one of my favorites in the garden, they put on a spectacular show.

21. Yep, and I think Ben Franklin grew it, too.
Benjamin Franklin, in a wide-ranging discussion of bodily discharges, once noted, "a few stems of asparagus eaten shall give our urine a disagreeable odor; and a pill of turpentine no bigger than a pea shall bestow upon it the pleasing smell of violets."
