A Lockport man who felt the wheels of his 2005 Monte Carlo weren't scrubbed properly grabbed a Homer Glen car wash supervisor and choked him until he passed out, according to police and the business owner.
Dino Dizeo, 43, became enraged when he noticed that the tire brushes had not been switched on when his car went through the Southway Car Wash, 12911 W. 143rd St., on Oct. 24, police and the owner said.
Supervisor Rocco "Rocky" Ktenas explained that the brushes are only used for whitewall tires and that Dizeo's wheels had been cleaned manually, said Paul Ktenas, Rocky's father and the owner of the business.
"He offered to give him a discount," Paul Ktenas said. "From there it just snowballed."
He said Dizeo told Rocky Ktenas, "I don't want to hear any of your s---" and grabbed the 25-year-old Lemont man by the throat as he walked away.
Witnesses told police that Rocky Ktenas' face turned purple as he tried to break free. He passed out while Dizeo had him in a headlock, Will County sheriff's police spokesman Pat Barry said.
Dizeo also left without paying for his $17.99 deluxe wash, Paul Ktenas said.
"One thing I've always said, 'If you're that fussy, you need to (wash) it yourself,' " Paul Ktenas said. "Why ruin your day if you're never going to be satisfied?"
Dizeo later was arrested and charged with a felony count of aggravated battery. He's free on $10,000 bail.
Messages left at his home and for his Joliet attorney on Wednesday were not returned.
A Will County judge granted Dizeo's wife a 14-day emergency order of protection in July 1998, according to court records. A domestic battery charge filed at that time was dropped a month later.
Rocky Ktenas could not be reached on Wednesday. His father remained stunned by the attack.
