Our longtime Lounge friend is facing a dreadful illness. Let's post our prayers, spells, incantations, meditations, blessings, good vibes. and just general positive what-have-yous in her direction.

You guys were all there for me when I had a trauma; time to pass the wonder along.

God, please shed your grace and mercy on our dear friend SoCalDem. She is facing a dreadful burden for which we humans can only offer our support. Embrace her in your light, and lighten her burden. Allow our dear friend to remain an active participant on this board and especially in life.

For those that don't know, she is losing her eyesight in the one good eye she had due to uvelitis. (sp?) It doesn't seem to be repairable and her near vision is quite blurry and she is using magnifying tools to see posts and type for the time being.

SoCalDem, I am so sorry to hear of your eye condition. I know you my dear lady, you have something that will carry you through all of this, it's your sense of humor. You are amazingly strong and a very positive person.

My sister who is totally blind since the age of 31,with a head-on automobile crash took her sight completely. She was able to go to blind school in Newton, Mass. while I watched her children for a year. She came home ready to live her life accepting her blindness,she like you as the sense of humor and strength inside her to enjoy life as much as possible. When she laughs I admire her so and I very much enjoyed her company this past summer. She has four boys and the youngest son was 2 years old when the accident occurred and now he's 35, with two boys of his own.

She loves being a Grandmother and someday so will you.

Eileen is my sister's name and she would say. "What I've lost in sight,I've gain in so many other ways."
You would really love my sister, she's had her heartaches, not only did she lose her sight when she was 31, she lost her husband to cancer as well that same year.
Just like Eileen ,SoCalDem you will go forward too, knowing your family and friends love you and just ever so grateful you're with them.

You are in my prayers, along with community of friends' at DU that think the world of you and how we all care very much.

I have received MANY in-box messages of hope and offers of links for me to research...and then this thread has so many warm words and helpful ideas, I am so lucky to have you all in my life, even if I have never met any of you in "real life".. Actually, everywhere we "are" is real life.,,even here:)

Last night when I read TrogL's suggestion about the resolution thing, I went there and after I did what he suggested, I wept for the first time since this happened on Christmas Eve.. I could actually see the screen better..Of course things on my desktop disappeared off the edge since EVERYTHING IS HUGE..but that's what I needed to be able to read it..

I still am stressed when I go out to places though.. It's so odd how we take for granted the ability to look at a sign and just read it.. It's got to be similar to being in a foreign country.. I can see the signs and I know they say something, but I cannot read it..

We went to Home Depot today to look for paint & some other things.. My husband said to pick out paint colors and he would be in hardware, so after a few minutes of paint picking, I decided to go find him.. Hah!! Now I understand the panicky little faces of kids who all of a sudden can't find their Mom.. I could see people moving around, but I forgot what he was wearing, so I could not readily see him.. ..

So back to the paint to wait for him.. :(..That's the part that really sucks..

I have always been supremely confident and had no fear at all about going anywhere at any time.. It's as if my basic confidence has suddenly vanished..

I do appreciate all the kind words and positive thoughts.. Thank you all..
