Michael Jackson Speaks Out
Michael Jackson Speaks Out
Dec. 26, 2003

In his first interview since his arrest on child molestation charges, Michael Jackson tells Ed Bradley it’s still ok to share his bed with children in a report to be broadcast on CBS News' 60 Minutes, Sunday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m./ET, 6 p.m./Central.

The pop star says, "Of course. Why not? If you’re going to be a pedophile, if you’re going to be Jack the Ripper, if you’re going to be a murderer, it’s not a good idea. That I am not."

But he vehemently denies the charges against him. An impassioned Jackson says, "Before I would hurt a child, I would slit my wrists," in reaction to a Bradley question about the charges brought against him that he molested a young boy.

Jackson also says that the police search of Neverland Ranch was overdone and so violated his privacy that his home will never be the same.

He tells Bradley, "I won’t live there ever again. It’s a house now. It’s not a home anymore. I’ll only visit."

1. All I want to know...
Did Ed Bradley keep a straight face as he looked at Michael Jackson's - uh - "face"?

In fairness, the media ought to recruit someone who looks something like Michael Jackson to interview Michael Jackson. I was going to suggest some Republican, but the vision that flashed into my mind was a Democrat named Traficant (Trafficant?). I just can't get over that guy's - uh - "hair."

2. He'll get off, of course.
Not only is he rich - from selling music in the 80's that he's incapable of equalling or faking today - but he's a media darling. Remind you of any White House residents you know?

By the way, did it strike you that all the "supporters" of Jackson's innocence looked like people that he handed a $20 bill to, to show up before the cameras? Not the celebrities, of course - God knows what he paid them - but the "common clay of humanity?" I wonder, if you cornered them, how many of them could accurately name five of Jackson's hit songs.

The most tragic mistake Bill Clinton made was letting this traitor to pop music sing at his second inaugural - surrounded by a crowd of young children. All boys, if memory serves...

8. It strikes me odd that of the 1000's of children who've been to Neverland
only 2 have made the charge of molestatation....That just doesn't add up to me....

9. and one settled for tons of cash
and the second's family has a history of suing people (similar allegations too). I think MJ is innocent, unless being a weirdo is illegal.

11. I'm one of those "supporters"
The only flaw MJ has is that he is too nice, in todays society you will get exploited if you are.

14. Does this bother you though?
This (image below) bothers me a little.

I have seen Martin Bashir's BBC doc on MJ and found his reluctance to admit that it's strange for a 40 year old man to sleep with young boys who aren't related - very strange. He feels there is nothing wrong with that and admits to it. Well I would not want my kids in bed with any strange 40 year old man and would find any man that age who wants to sleep with my kids a freak at best and a pedophile at worst.

What about this images though? A strange thing for a man to commission I say. It can perhaps be seen as a reflection of his 'pure' perception of his strange views of the world. Or this image is a deep cry for help of some kind.

Weird guy basically. Very Weird.

15. Did you see MJ's anti bashir documentary??
Bashir cut tons of footage that MJ released, putting abunch of stuff into perspective.

And so? MJ has weird taste.. doesn't mean he's a pedophile

16. He's been charged at this point
I did not see MJ's retort to the Bashir vid, I admit. But lots of stuff gets left out on the cutting floor in any media operation and that's what ultimately kills any claims of objectivity in any form of journalism - period. You can scream about what made the cut and what didn't - I don't care. I saw what came out of his mouth and it was not edited between short breaths... this was a series of long conversations between Bashir and Michael.

Have you seen both works? I am sure it was not easy to watch the BBC show in the US, with so many of the big players that be - on the MJ moneywagon. Distribution is not easy. Ask Mel Gibson.

I am leaning towards him being more a pedophile that 'just' a weirdo. That's my opinion. I find the fact that he thinks it's okay to sleep with young boys who are not related to him damning enough. If he lived in trailer park or ghetto his ass would be in jail. Lucky he can afford good lawyers for what you call his 'weirdness'.

This is not the first time he has been up against charges. You would think he would have learnt the first time, if he was as innocent as you claim.

Put hand in fire. OW! Fire hurts. Pull hand out of fire. Don't do it again (unless you actually enjoy the pain).

13. He's not as rich as people would believe
He's borrowed a lot of money for Neverland and all his other little ventures based on the Beatles catalog he owns.
