isn't it? She was born in Oklahoma, of - i thought - solid Russian, Polish, other totally European stock. But being born in Oklahoma, who knows? i never will now.

My mother was a week short of 94 (I am damn near a change-of-life baby) and she would have hated the way her life would become following the major heart attack she had. Her first. And last. My father always said that she'd be carried out of her house feet first. And she was...into the ambulance and to the hospital. Happily, she was totally with it up until the end. Kept waving good-bye to us the day she died.
