Blu Ray? HD DVD? Vista?!!

Has anyone here in dU brought either a Blu-Ray or HD DVD player? While there'll be a $199 HD DVD player add on the the Xbox 360 coming out next month...i don't want to give M$ TOTAL control of my entertainment stuff (the 360 is great for me though). but the 1st generation Bl Ray players start at $999, and the much vaulted Playstation 3 iisn;t much cheaper and even less more available until Spring (maybe). and Vista??? While there's a nice HP laptop I'd consider, I'm much more inclined to stay with OS X. Plus Apple is on the Blu Ray bandwagon :-)

The samsung Blu Ray plaer is, well..what's a nice word..CRAP. They released it knowing there was some kind of bad chip inside, so the much hyped 1080p picture qualtiy was moe like a souped up regualr DVD iamge. And the I grand pricetag hurts just as bad as the PS3 will. Me, I'm going to sit back and wait fo rht Blu Ray players to get cheaper and actually worth my time.
