A visit to Katrina Country, one year later
My husband and I just returned from a four-day trip to the Louisiana/Mississippi Gulf Coast between New Orleans and Biloxi. I'm not as good with words as many people on DU, so I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

A home in New Orleans East

A toppled grave marker in Biloxi

Destruction on the Mississippi coast

Sleeping with the dead in St. Louis Cemetery #1

Please visit my gallery site here for more. Words really do fail me.

3. Is it a homeless person wrapped up in blankets?
Of course, that is someone's bed. :(

4. It was a leopard-skin blanket...
From the small stash of personal items at the base of this crypt, along with the mattress and blanket, it was obvious that somebody had been using this spot to sleep. It was an extremely sad scene to me.
