5. OK, I finished it
Yes, it was good. I enjoyed the ending, too. And, without spoiling it for anybody, I think they "wrote off" the wrong actress. She was very good. Maybe she'll get some acting jobs where they won't make her..um..er...well, I don't want to spoil it for anybody.

...said to him. She bared her soul...at the same time acknowledging she was beyond redemption.

It was heartbreaking.

And one of the most impressively human moments on television.

In my post I was talking about who did it basically, and I think it was him not her. Her speech was a lot more touching and heartfelt and sad by a wide margin.

10. Not sure what I thought of it
Some parts of it were amazing and surprising. But....it just feels like the New Caprica storyline moved at too rapid a pace for my liking. Like there was this innovative and dangerous story idea that they had the courage to put into place, and now are abandoning rapidly. I would have liked to see New Caprica drawn out more I guess. But I am looking forward to next week to see how this all plays out in the fleet.

28. Yeah, I could have gone for a LOT more of New Caprica.
But as good as it was, ultimately that is not really what the show is about. I still could have used an extra episode or two, but oh well.

I'm just as eager to see what the next arc brings anyway. From the previews it looks like they are going to seek justice against the human collaborators, and due process is nowhere to be seen. Could be good.

34. They stretched it out as it is.
The occupation was extended via ten webisodes, and Exodus was stretched from one episode into a two-parter.

36. I understand
but it felt like much more could have been done, and should have been done, in my mind. It felt rushed to me that's all. Having it this soon in the season wrap up, and yes I understand repercussions are coming and *may* be around a while, just feels like it was a plot device, not as momentous of an event as it could have been. It was a great episode, one of their best so far. I just think it could have been even better yet. Again it's just a matter of opinion and personal likes and dislikes.

39. I won't begrudge them that
Sure, I'd have liked more occupation stuff too, but in exchange for losing that, we're gaining a major story arc (first half of this season) that explains a lot more about the cylons and their various flaws.

33. I'm looking forward to how this "plays out"
The first half of season 3 will go into much more detail about the cylons and their communal flaws.

I do hope they go into more detail about what they did to the centurions. That seems like a tragedy unto itself. (The centurions used in the previous war were sentient and involved in the rebellion. The more modern centurions are given less sophisticated programming so that they are not even self-aware. The cylons don't even bother "downloading" them when one of them dies. The reason given is that the cylons are worried the centurions would turn on them the same way they turned on the humans, but there almost has to be an interesting story behind that, don't you think?)

42. I actually let out a whoop.
That scene rivals any action/SFX sequence in any movie I can think of.

The viper pilot's "Oh sh*t!" moment while coming out of a flaming launch tube added exactly the right emotional punctuation to the scene.

PS -- I think the viper pilot in question was Hot Dog, who is played by Edward James Olmos' son.

32. The Ellen Tigh scene made me all weepy (semi-spoilers)
What's impressive is that I knew that moment was coming, and it made me weepy anyway. That was a very powerful moment.

The circumstances in which Galactica arrived on New Caprica was a "wow" moment to rival any action movie, much less anything on the small screen.

I very much like the fact that the final celebration and associated reunions weren't just a one-dimensional "whoot!" thing, but tinged with a couple of severe down notes, producing conflicted emotions.

38. Wow, what an episode
If that's not up for an Emmy nomination at the end of the season, I'll have lost respect for the Emmy process.

That was so powerful.

I can't say much more without spoilers, but it was really moving with Tigh/Ellen and the Starbuck twist was so quick it was like "OMG" (not the first part, but the very end of the show)

49. And it makes me weep
Ron Moore was perhaps the best writer for Star Trek DS9 and Voyager. His leaving Paramount to do BSG, makes me weep at what Star Trek could have been with him as producer.

50. Absolutely. But the Paramount suits would probably never...
let him do all the crazy, amazing things to Star Trek that he's doing with Battlestar Galactica.

I just thank the gods that Battlestar Galactica could be revived by someone like Ron Moore. I loved the original show, but this one takes all the good stuff from that series and escalates to unbelievable heights.

If last Friday's show is not at least nominated for an Emmy, then that will absolutely confirm that those awards are a complete joke. This episode excelled in every conceivable way.
