But don't...mostly because you don't want a flame war or because you don't want to alienate anyone here at DU?

Just curious.

1. Sometimes
I just read and don't answer. Mostly because I am afraid my sense of humour will be misunderstood and I'll wind up banned or something.

4. Not too often; I usually jump in with both feet. But. . .
if the subject is a hugely divisive one (like abortion), one that I have no interest in (gun rights), or one that has been done to death (Israeli/Palestinian stuff), then I'll stay out.

I can't say that I ever stayed out because I was afraid of a flame war or alienating anyone at DU. I don't KNOW anyone at DU.

6. All The Time
I'm 45 years old and know a lot about a lot of different topics. I can't mention 90% of what I know because someone entrenched in their position will see it as an affront.

A whole heck of a lot of us are brainwashed, myself included. That's where it comes from. There plus, boards are usually areas to vent too.

In general, there are more openly expressed ideas on DU than any other site I've found so I'm grateful that I've found it. And, I can't stand "civility". Fuk civility, speak the truth!

10. Never
since no one seems to respond to much of what I write anyway, which is ok.

I had heard so much about you folks from a conservative site who has many members who take great delight in getting banned from this site. I figured I'd have to come and check it out.

I see a totally different picture than much of what they projected...but then again, I wasn't very popular there.

I try to be civil and have yet to be banned from any websites, yet I will certainly disagree and express whatever it is that I'm in the mood to express.

Provide me with less government interferrence in my life and personally, I don't give a damn what you call it.

Edited on Thu Dec-25-03 12:17 PM by mikita
I just read someone else's reply saying everything I was thinking and more, and better!! I'd probably have 1500 posts by now.

Good if I could type withOUT transposing letters as well.

Edited 2x for typos -- another reason I shouldn't post!!!!!!

Peace. :hi:

12. I'm pretty numb to it when I see it but I don't respond to 99%
of what I read, and half of that I could piss someone off with my response if I were in the mood to do so. I have not been in such a mood for many years, though. Comes with age and mellowing, I guess. I am speaking of GD. I get on a rant once in a while but not very often.

In fact, I think I am getting TOO mellow.

Not so much in the Lounge though. Hard to get pissed off in the Lounge.

13. when someone posts something ignorantly and unessesarily insulting
I almost always respond. People who post their opinion as fact also get responded to.

14. A lot
the sad thing is that I've usually gone to a thread to find information about a candidate. Snide remarks and flame wars turn me off. I have to remind myself over and over that the candidate isn't the same as his/her supporters. I try to make sure my posts are beneficial and not derogatory to any candidate.

16. Constantly...
Twice today in fact. -- Then I think to myself "why bother?" It would be wasted effort and wasted emotion that very few would care about.
