I smoke Newport Lights but never buy cartons. I feel like I would smoke way more than I do now.

17. Camel sends out some good coupons.
I got some for $4 off on a pack. One for $30 on a carton. A month ago I got two free packs of Camel Lights Wide and a free West Coast Choppers zippo type lighter in the mail.

19. Make your own
•5.29 ounces o' American Spirit tobacco (enough for about 200 cigs) — about $16.

•Box of 100 filtered tubes — about $1.50.

•Injection thingie — $10-$30 (mine was about $15).

•Tobacco without added carcinogenic chemicals — Priceless.

22. You don't hafta roll 'em
You buy the tubes and press the tobacco into 'em with the machine thingie. Takes about 20 seconds once you get used to it.

28. I know
I dunno how cowboys rolled 'em one-handed while holding the reins with the other.

After my misadventures in rolling other kinds o' smokes, I figured I'd better not try. They always looked like two-headed squids that swallowed a medicine ball.

24. I make my own, too.
14 ounces of pure Turkish tobacco (enough for about 400 cigarettes), with no chemical additives or flavourings: $18.95. 400 filter tubes: about $5. Cost per pack: a little more than a buck. Equivalent cost of premade 100% Turkish cigarettes, if you can find them: $6-8/pack. (And I smoke between 5-10 a day now, vs. 20-30 when I was still smoking Camels).

And I'm using full flavor tubes right now, but I'm thinking of moving to something lighter the next time around.

Just rolled over a carton today while watching a movie. The taste is so much better, it's cheaper and no additives.

A carton is 1 1/2 times more than that, and this will make hundreds of cartons, so, money well spent. :)

8. Gawd, I miss smoking
Sometimes I go out to the smoking area at school for a little second hand smoke fix, but I'm still fighting the urge to light one up. Having already had problems with my lungs, I guess I better stick to inhaling everyone elses tho :(

There's no such thing as second hand smoke and anyways it's harmless and the chemicals are all deactivated or something.

I quit 10 years ago but I'm one of those strange people who actually likes the smell of cigarette smoke. I can't be around it and still breathe, but I like the aroma.

23. If you live in CA- you're about to get screwed!
If that *&^%$% Prop. 86 passes on Nov.7th,
ciggs will go up over $2.00 a pack .

That and the fact that it will exempt hospitals
from anti-trust laws, make smokers pay for
hospital emergency services for the uninsured,
the list goes on and on. We're already paying for
health services that all taxpayers use to pay for.

I'm sick of this friggin sh*t!!!
Argghhh!!!

Thank you for listening,
Carry on.

29. So glad I left.
Then again, I'm in NYC now, where $6 a pack is considered a bargain.

I wish fast food had a tax like this-- then again, you'd upset far more people, and God forbid you make the majority angry.

36. It'll pass
"Let's get the smokers!" measures always do. Because we're eee-vill 'n' shit. :eyes:

It calls for a new tax of $2.60 per pack. That'll make the pack price around $7. And, you're right — it won't do what it says it does. Mostly, it'll make HMOs even richer and cut huge breaks for hospitals.

Fortunately, since I make my own, it won't affect me much, if at all. But I fucking hate how they tax one group — one with no representation — to pay for many things.

39. Amen, brother!
Oeditpus, I'm glad you posting on our CA Forum
and spoke out against this insane Prop. 86.:7

Even MoveOn is endorsing it, after
I sent them an e-mail telling them how corrupt it is!!

We are eee-vill, aren't we?

:sarcasm:

Btw; The Los Angeles Times is out of it's friggin
mind. Here are a few of their endorsements;

Governor- Ahnuld
(because they've lost their minds!)
Prop 86- Yes( "it will fund health care"- So?)
Prop 87-No( " it's not fair to single out oil companies for higher taxes"
( Oh!- but it's OK to single out smokers?!?)

Give me strength!

Some schmuck from Chicago. Maybe that has something to do with it.

According to the thing I got in the mail today, the LA County Medical Association opposes it.
