Your favorite sleeping position?
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 11:10 AM by ohiosmith

In a new study a sleep expert identified six common sleeping positions. Look at the picture and match the numbers with the descriptions in the story.

Does the Way You Sleep Reveal Your Personality?

After surveying a thousand volunteers, a sleep expert with England's Sleep Assessment and Advisory Service, in London, says he recently identified six common sleeping positions and what they reveal about the sleeper.

See if you fit into any of these categories. Look at the picture and match the numbers with the descriptions below.

1. FETUS
People who sleep this way are tough on the outside but shy and sensitive underneath.

This was the most common sleep position of study participants, with 41 percent saying they sleep this way. With women, however, the percentage was higher. Fifty-one percent of the women in the study sleep this way.

2. LOG
Sleepers in this position are easygoing and like to be part of the "in crowd."

3. YEARNER
Study participants who slept in the yearner position had open natures but could be suspicious.

4. SOLDIER
People who sleep this way are quiet and reserved but set high standards for themselves and others.

5. FREE FALL
Sleepers in free-fall position are sociable and bold, and they don't like criticism.

6. SEA STAR
People who sleep in the sea star position are good listeners who make friends easily.

Usually curled up around a body pillow because of pain issues.

Edit: With a cat pushed up against me somewhere!

:hi:

8. Wow, TC...
 I'm so sorry you have to deal with chronic pain. :pals: But at least your kitty is there too! :D

I usually end up with a dog, sometimes two, somewhere around my legs.

24. The worse is when the cats try to sleep between my legs.
Especially the big 18lb cat.

33. LOL! That could be a problem...
...My dogs like to push and stretch out, so I end up sometimes with my legs hanging off the bed. That's OK, though---I push back. They don't like it, but tough... :P

34. This cat pushes, too.
I don't get how anything that weighs 18lbs takes up more room than sharing the bed with a human. And he only wants to sleep with me because my sister's away at college. He's just using me for my bed.

35. You know that's cat abuse...
Not abusing a cat, but a cat abusing you for its own gain. :P They just use you and throw you away.

1,3,4,6 are the most common and i may even do those all in the same week (sometimes 2 in the same night)but i have been known to sleep in the other 2 as well from time to time...so what does that say about me?

14. All #1 all the time. Always facing left.
All I have to do to fall asleep anywhere immediately is assume that position. Conversely I can stay awake forever by assuming any of the other 5.

15. Other: swastika sleep position
My favorite sleep position is often called the swastika sleep position; one arm up, one down, one knee up and the other leg angled down and away. My dog hates it because I take up to much room in the bed.

19. I'm a yearner, married to a Sea Star...which makes for tough
sleep spot navigation. I also found out that BabyG is a baby sea star/free fall with a penchant for rapid position changes. Daddy hasn't been home so he's been sleeping in our room.

27. Mostly 1, with a little of 2 and 6 as well.
I sleep on my side — half in the fetal position with one arm up as in number 6, and one leg down as in number 2.
