21. Well, that might be kind of nice
but really just the hanging around, eating and swimming every once in a while, and not much else.

I am rather lazy, especially in comparison with everyone around me. Even at this moment I'm posting at DU instead of cleaning house because my sister is coming to visit tomorrow.

It ain't the elephants' fault a buncha fuckpies stole 'em as their icon. (The American Civil Elephants Union sued the GOP for misrepresentation in 1922, but they lost. Elephants don't lie, so they make lousy lawyers.)

And it's a well-known fact that 97 percent of chimpanzees voted against *.

Wouldn't mistreat them or mess in their affairs.

I heard not long ago that if you blow in an elephant's trunk, he'll remember you forever. And, like most animals, they remember who's nice to 'em.

no matter how big or small they are.

But I still don't like mosquitos or spiders. But while I kill mosquitos without hesitation I capture the spiders that happen to find my apt and kick them out without harming them.

Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 03:58 AM by Random_Australian
Or lorikeets. Or green tree frogs.

And possums, provided they are not on a tin roof.

And black cockatoos.

And king parrots!

And wallabies.

And sugar gliders and flying foxes.

And tuna.

And whales.

And bass, and flathead.

And of course sharks, great whites and whale sharks and tigers and hammerheads.

And then there is stingrays, and yabbies, and Titan stick insects, and emporer butterflies.

And red-belly black snakes, and galahs and ha-ha pidgeons.

Aw heck with it, anything except spiders and brown snakes and taipans and cane toads are excellent.

EXCEPT FUCKING GIANT CENTIPEDES AND STONEFISH BECAUSE THEY BOTH CREEP ME OUT!

Mind you, irakandju and box jellyfish aren't nice, but I don't see them like I do all the other animals I listed. :)

P.S. And koalas should be shot in the mating season, but they can remain alive for the rest of the year if they keep their distance.

P.P.S. I am indeed a country bumpkin.

ha-ha pidgeon is similar to the German word for the bird "Der lachende Hans" lachen means laughin, Hans is a male name. Hans is the same as John

I mean really - so we have mammals that lay eggs and mammals with poison spines, is that so odd?

I think nature sat aside Australia as a lab - let's see what happens if I try this. There's the story about when the first platypus showed up in Europe. It was summarily dismissed as a joke; something cobbled together from bits and pieces of other animals.

They all found good homes. But we have one more permanent addition to the household. The "feral" Mommy decided to stay.

You should see her playing with a little stuffed kiwi.

92. I bet it was
The pic I just posted was take at a flight show and the owl was sitting peacefully on the hand of its "owner". That is why I got so close to it.

86. Moose

Big, solitary, silent, well designed for their homes and just plain beautiful.

I like gray wolves too mainly for all the lore that goes with them, though they too are beautiful but then again I seem to see beauty in all wild things.

or with glass between us.

But I've seen pics that the Natives from South America had those monkeys as pets.
