7. It'd be a hell of a huff
out of half-ounce bottles. :silly:

Mmmm... I ain't carin' that much about the Series. It'd be cool to have a rematch of 1968, but I also think the Tigers and Mets would be a better matchup. Detroit would probably take St. Louis in four or five.

27. Didn't get any red at all
Closest thing to red is International Orange for the pilot's "mae west."

There're bits o' red in the squadron/campaign insignae, but it's on the decals.

Where was that photo taken? That's a '51-A. Not many of those still around.

There's one living at the airport here. It crashed in Alaska in 1944 (thus the name "Polar Bear"), was recovered in 1977 and went through an eight-year restoration. Here it is with "Iron Ass" (since sold to a guy in San Diego) and "The Dutchman." (Another '51-D, "Ridge Runner," also lives here.)

I got to sit in "Iron Ass" once. Heebus, are those cockpits cramped!

28. I'm not that advanced yet
I sprayed the fueselage and wings with Testor's Model Master #2914 (German Silver) after wet-sanding with #400 paper and applying a primer coat, then wet-sanding that. Everything else has been or will be brushed. (I've got a decent set of brushes from 0 to 1/2", in camel hair and nylon.)

48. Hitler wanted it to be a Bomberjetflugzeugen
Which is why it didn't get into service until late 1944. If they'd used it as a bomber interceptor when they first had it, the outcome of the war might've been different.

Ach, vas der Fuerher's face rot!

I think the first, or one of the first, I built was a Bell X-3. I got glue all over it and I hung it from the ceiling. One day I got up on the top bunk and snipped the strings. Crash.

And I think I burned my B-52; you know, I was little, and there was the gas for the lawn mower, and matches in my pocket. It was, let me say this, heroic!
