It just dawned upon me that the first game of the World Series is Saturday
My friend has been bugging me for weeks to go back to our old college for homecoming this Saturday, for the football game and subsequent drinking afterwords. This is all fine and dandy and I was quite excited to go back and hang out with some old friends...the deal was, she would drive us both down but it was my job to ask someone to see if we could crash at her apartment.

Well I just realized that Game 1 of the World Series is scheduled for 8pm on Saturday and if the Mets are in it, there is no way in hell I'm missing that game. But if they lose, I'll probably be mad and won't watch the game but that means I'll have to scramble to find a place to stay in 2 days. Not to mention I'll have to keep my friend waiting all this time to give her an answer about this weekend, I don't want her to change her schedule all around just so I can say..."sorry I can't go at the last minute". Plus since this just dawned upon me, I don't think she's realized it either so now I'm gonna have to call her today and tell her all of this, no doubt she's going to be pissed but it IS the World Series and I would understand if she left me high and dry for her Red Sox.

Dammit this sucks!

1. Choices, Choices, Choices.
If it were me (it always comes down to that in many replies to a thread, doesn't it? "Well, MY experience..."). :eyes:

Anyway, as I was saying. ;) If it were me, I'd plan in faith to stay at home. The Mets & Cards are even. It's anyone's series, and the Mets have been magical this season. If the Halos were in it again, I'd plan to stay home and watch as if I had tickets to every game.

But your other option sounds like so much fun, too. Dayum... helluva dilemma.

Personally I'm pulling for the Cards, but I don't want you to be disappointed. So: Go, Best Team! ;)

Good luck, Smitty.

2. I know it's quite a dilemma
But I guess I can look on the bright side...both of my choices lead to something fun so it's not like I have to chose between getting my knees smashed with a baseball bat or getting my fingernails removed with a pair of pliers...because both of those things would really suck! :P

3. I'm supposed to go to a coworker's wedding on Saturday
The ceremony is at 6pm and the reception afterwards.

I told him WEEKS ago that I couldn't risk not being home on Saturday nite if the Mets were in the Series, so I am just going to the ceremony.

Don't fuck around, Smitty. I wouldn't even chance it!

:)

9. Thats true...
I guess I should just take my knocks, let her be pissed at me and plan to be home...she'll get over it. I just can't believe I had such a brain fart. I was looking forward to both things but for some reason I just blanked on the dates

15. Would it kill you to have spelled his name correctly?
I mean, is that ALL you have?

16. Would it have killed you to spell Cardinals correctly in your first post?
And no, I have this:

Reyes
LoDuca
Beltran
Delgado
Wright
Green
Valentine
Chavez
and a pitcher that was 3-13 this year that Pujols went 0-4 against?

17. I made a typographical error.
You just made an immature spelling of a person's name. Which I think is weak.

And thank you for spelling his name correctly.

I'm shocked your precious Mets even lost a game this series.

You're awful defensive about this. I didn't intend for you to react so badly, but hey.

19. I just think it's disrespectful to use a person's name that way.
Edited on Mon Oct-16-06 07:29 PM by GOPisEvil
If you'd just asked the same question with the correct spelling I probably would have answered with a glib reply. The only way I can explain it is that using someone's name to rag on them is taking the easy way.

Anyway, I've said my piece on it. Let's hope for good weather and good baseball tomorrow.

13. This NLCS SUCKS!!! who do i despise more, the mets or the cards?
i'm gonna have to go with the cards for two reasons:

1) they're in the NL Central

2) this guy says it all.
