what's a good cheap, wireless internet service that i can get?
i'm moving into a new house next weekend, for just a few months and would like to get the internet...

i only have a PC and don't have the time or money to sign up for a regular monthly internet service.

i've seen various commercials for things like verizon or sprint wireless broadband access...can i get that for my PC?

i don't want to have some company come hook a bunch of shit up in my house since i won't be there for long...

anyone know anything? have any ideas?

2. To my knowledge...
there isn't anything of that sort (but I'm hardly an expert on this sort of thing).

Those services you have mentioned are designed for laptops and work primarally by connecting to the network over digital(cellular) signal to allow people to have internet anywhere they can get phone reception thus allowing for flexibility. You can try contacting them to see if they offer anything designed for a desktop, it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

4. Clearwire.
IF you live in an area that has their service...it's good, but it's only available in some cities. Rates as low as $15 a month, and no equipment other than an antenna that sits on your desk. It's a decent service if you can get it.

Otherwise, Google "wireless internet" + your city name. There are lots of community groups and smaller wireless companies that offer the service.

If all else fails, you might check to see if you have a neighbor with an open AP :)
