I think romantic love is way over-rated. In fact it's probably in the top ten of myths I was sold as a child, in there with Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the importance of maintaining an intact hymen, the value of a liberal arts education, etc. Nothing in my life has cost me more financially, emotionally, psychologically, whatever than belief in that concept and the pursuit of it. I mean, I think I want to proceed as if it exists but not pursue it or believe that sex and love have to intercept. Like I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket anymore. I might love someone but never sleep with them, and I might sleep with someone but not love them...I don't know. I'm just sick of the other two things, doing without when I'm single and being flayed alive emotionally when I'm doing the girlfriend thing. Men don't usually work me over like this but I'm sure now that I've made that declaration I'm in for it in that department.
