Yeah it sucks. I've always disliked it. It reminds me of, well ... cancer.

3. When you read the characteristics of each star sign
it's always like, everyone else is fiery, or passionate, or vivacious, or strong, or any of a combination of other positive attributes.

When it comes to cancer, it's like "you are a weaselly little creature whom everyone despises. Have you no shame?"

Good job I don't believe in this shit. :D

12. Try Capricorn for size.
All the descriptions of us are along the lines of "you are tedious beyond belief, can bore people to death from miles away, do complex accounting as a hobby and have never knowingly had sex with another living being." Great.

4. Sigh. Can't necessarily agree with you there...
A little-appreciated thing about Cancers? You're the real money sign. True, it may not always be "your" money, and it may not always stay with you as long as you want, but you're never really going to run out of it. And while I find most Cancers to be bitchy, if not outright abusive, passive-agressive, lying assholes (and don't even get me started on Cancer mothers, of which I am the unfortunate progeny)? Good Cancers can be nice people. Sometimes. At least you're not Virgos. Brrrrr!

8. Well..
Being a water sign, some of us can be moody, but at the same time, I like the moon.

When I was a child, I had little appreciation for my birthday because most everyone went out of town at that time. Today, it's nice to me. I celebrate my birthday along with the nation's in the sense the most important document was produced 230 years ago--the Declaration of Independence.

So, I would argue that Cancerians are very independent.

19. All star signs suck equally
Ares: Self-centered, whiny, reckless, with no detectable intellect, ie George Bush

Taurus: Lazy lunkheads who all too often pay little attention to their personal hygiene, ie NASCAR fans

Gemini: Hyper pretentious motor mouths, ie talk show hosts

Cancer: Paranoid control freaks, ie stage mothers

Leo: Can show Ares and Gemini a few tricks when it comes to narcissism and pretension and with them arrogance isn't an attitude; it's a lifestyle, ie Paris Hilton

Virgo: There is no nit in the cosmos a Virgo won't find and pick into submission and they have a tendency toward low level tyranny, ie Nurse Ratchet and bureaucrats

Libra: Superficially charming, but will trade you out in NY minute to keep their position in the peck, ie Colin Powell

Scorpio: Often seriously fucked up and usually found in the NSA, meth clinics and clock towers with AK-47s, ie Hannibal Lecter and Dick Cheney

Sagittarius: Not physically presentable or dumb enough to be talk show hosts, they work in conservative think tanks or teach at 'never heard of it' colleges where they are universally feared and loathed, ie William Buckley and Henry Kissinger

Capricorn: They will plot and plan in secret for decades to pay you back for that high school gym wedgie and the revenge will be totally excessive to requirement, ie Iago

Aquarius: Often brilliant without a speaking acquaintance with common sense, they produce weird blogs and clog up the patent office with :wtf: inventions, ie mad scientists and career stoners

Pisces: Good natured and harmless, they live in an alternate universe which is best left unexplored by the rest of us, ie aging flower children.

20. I'm a Cancer (progressed Leo).
What's the problem? Cancer's are very intuitive and emotional. They are tenacious. They make good businesspeople while at the same time they are the happy homemakers of the zodiac. I think of us as being pretty well rounded. And the name, "cancer", came first: the disease is so called because the tumors were thought to resemble the crab. Hey, and we're cute too! and loyal. :D

I've remarried. 15 years now to the most wonderful woman in the world. I'm not the type to fool around so if I was still married to the fish, I wouldn't have met my current wife.

BTW. I was single for 10 years between wife's.

35. well, the mainstream and stereotypical astroology perspective is
kind of aggravating/limited: "domestic, sensitive, takes care of everyone, cooks, nurturing", blah, blah; but if you are really interested in a broader perspective on the sign, Rob Brezhny and other folks present a much more complex picture. (not that nurturing is a bad quality)

I think I am a lot more complex (and a better parent) than the quick and dirty perspective of Cancers usually presented by the mainstream. Get your chart done (if you are interested in that sort of thing and I suspect it will be a lot more enlightening.) People who actually do charts look at rising sings and what signs are in different houses, etc.

And, if you think that your sign means little or nothing about you, you can disregard this! ;)

the nurterers and the hearts of the home. If we can't get a little moody after taking care of everyone else all the time, it's their problem, not ours! Besides, being a water sign is great, it's a symbol of life & renewal.

Our sign kicks ass, it's just that not everyone realizes it. You're letting your Cancerian sensitivity to other people's opinions get the better of you today.
