What is the meaning of life?

I expect a good answer here, or I will go ask the same question on Freerepublic.

:P

1. Simple:
The meaning of life is what you are obsessed about at any given time. It could be studying, playing, talking, singing. Anything that obsesses you and captures you. Outside of that there is no meaning.

The meaning of life is kept in a box.
Everyone is welcome to lift the lid and look inside -- but what you see inside that box is not what I see. Or what George Bush sees. Or what Anna Nicole Smith sees. Or what ... well, you get the idea.

6. 'Well, that's the end of the film
"Now, here's the meaning of life. Thank you, Brigitte. M-hmm. Well, it's nothing very special.

"Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations. And, finally, here are some completely gratuitous pictures of penises to annoy the censors and to hopefully spark some sort of controversy, which, it seems, is the only way, these days, to get the jaded, video-sated public off their fucking arses and back in the sodding cinema. Family entertainment bollocks. What they want is filth: people doing things to each other with chainsaws during tupperware parties, babysitters being stabbed with knitting needles by gay presidential candidates, vigilante groups strangling chickens, armed bands of theatre critics exterminating mutant goats — Where's the fun in pictures? Oh, well, there we are. Here's the theme music. Goodnight."

7. Oh man, I desperately want to know the FR answer to that question?
I mean, I know it will nauseate me, undermine my faith in humanity, give me nightmares, and fill me with equal parts of rage, sadness, hopelessness and fear - but damn I want to hear it!

8. aside from 42, I always answer that question this way:
The meaning of life is to leave the earth a better place than it was when you came.

Kids seem to relate well to that. I tell them that some people make it better through their work, some through their art, and some through their gentle treatment of others. It's a surprise to the sub-teens who think the purpose of life is to "be happy."

11. Here's my take:
The meaning of life is to create our OWN meaning, whatever that may be.

Ultimately, however, I believe we are all called to live a life of Authenticity, Joy, Abundance and Love.

It's what I'm here for. That's what I signed up for. :)
