how can I tell this gin has gone bad?

4. Yeah, I know someone who had an opened bottle that was 30+ years.

It was just slightly stronger, due to a bit of the water evaporating. None of us suffered any ill effects from turning it into martinis.

Not rotten bad, but it will oxidize and can taste like crap it exposed to air - always finish an opened bottle fairly soon or use it in mixed drinks.

Alcohol has a higher vapor pressure than water. Alcohol is a small molecule that can evaporate over time. No bugs can live in booze. Upside: give it a shot but the drinks may be weak.
