5. oops.. I forgot one.. beautiful flowers that I had to give away.
Too many kitties to have such a tempting treasure.. The bowling center manager gave it to me as a Thank you/Christmas gesture.. So I gave it to a friend of mine to give to his wife instead..

I once came home to find a vase of flowers dumped over on my very expensive table.. totally ruined the parquet top...and since I had the leaf in it was ruined as well....

Kitties just being kitties.. :(

14. "The I HATE REPUBLICANS Reader"
Edited by Clint Willis, it is basically a compilation of "everything you need to win an argument with your favorite republican."

It features things like lies, election tricks, greed, trampling on our civil liberties, and much more.

"You'll never again lose an argument you know you should win," Willis concludes.

I also have:

  1. The 2004 World Almanac
  2. A couple 'page-a-day' calendars
  3. A U-M 2003 Big Ten Champions shirt
  4. A Denver Broncos shirt

15. 2 chamois shirts (navy, red)
AND A PAAARTRIIIDGE IN A PEAR TREEEE.
(Not really, it just fit.)
I love 'em. Chamois shirts pass for a winter jacket down here.
Chocolate peanut butter. Is this stuff legal? You can actually get it over-the-counter?
I thought it was a controlled substance.
Habanero peanut butter.
Are you seeing a pattern here? Sounds interesting.
Merry Christmas to all of us DU Loungers.

17. Bread, chocolate and fruit -- ambrosia. The stuff of gods. Nothing better.
Edited on Thu Dec-25-03 12:08 PM by Bertha Venation
My sister Chette sent a loaf of Swedish limpa bread and two loaves of braid bread (white, wheat & rye braided together -- looks like challah), three boxes of See's Candies, and two bags of Japanese Engrish peas, along w/ hand-written notes from the kids. Oh -- Chette made the bread herself. She is a goddess.

My other sister Bonnie emailed that there's a Harry & David gift certificate on its way. Woo hoo! Pears & cheese! Bombean is a goddess.

My father emailed yesterday that a "Christmas box" is on its way and hopefully will have arrived yesterday. It didn't, but I told him no worries; and emphatically, "Mrs. V. and I will enjoy whatever you've sent that much more after the holiday." (To myself I kept the sentiment "no doubt you addressed it only to me, you bigoted jerk.")

My in-laws, on the other hand -- Southern Baptists -- sent me a cookbook, and a magazine subscription addressed to "Bertha " because they couldn't remember my last name. Even though that was the reason, I was deeply moved to see my name & hers together for the first time -- and from her parents.

There are a few little things for me under the tree -- gifts from friends at work. Mrs. Venation and I got each other only big fat helpings of undying love and devotion, this being an extremely lean year due to her health.

Joyeux Noël to all. :7

22. Let's see
A beautiful necklace and the new Sandman graphic novel from my husband.
Estee Lauder makeup kit from my dad. I'll be opening the rest at my mom's later.

I got my husband a CD/MP3 Walkman and a DVD, Cowboy Bebop, The Movie. We got one big gift for each other, the new TiVo Series 2.

We got our almost 3 year old his first tricycle, and a bunch of toys. This was the first xmas he was old enough to really enjoy, and it was so much fun watching him get excited over his new stuff. Now, he is playing with the boxes :)

The baby got a bunch of clothes; he's not really old enough for toys yet. He slept right through all the excitement this morning.
