Is BBC's 'Bargain Hunt' The Dumbest Show Ever?

Anyone who collects antiques KNOWS that you 'buy' at auction prices and 'sell' at retail prices. (It's like wholesale and retail.)

This dumb show has people 'buying' at retail prices and 'selling' at auction prices. (The people they buy from originally 'bought' at auction prices and are now 'selling' at retail prices.

On rare occasions, someone actually turns a profit and 'wins' the contest on the show. Most of the time, however, contestants seem shocked that they lose money. LOL!

What they don't tell you:
When real people 'sell' at auction, they pay up to 35% commission to the auction service, which seriously undercuts the seller's profit.

How did this dumb show ever get on the air? Just another dumb 70's idea (like the host's lapel width}?

1. The BBC show?
I love that show, regardless of the idiocy of the contestants.

2. I love that show
Sure, they don't talk about the commision loss.

What, you expect them to have their contestants go to auctions, but stuff and then go to a fair and sit there all day to sell it. Now that may be more realistic, but it would be pretty boring.

It's called entertainment. It's not meant to eb a how-to guide to making money.

3. No. It's BBC. It can NOT be stupider than Murkan TeeVee...
NOTHING is more stupid that US television. They could air a solid hour of Tinky-Winky picking up and putting down his purse and it'd STILL be more intelligent than any "reality" show....

5. Looks like a duffer to me!

Why has there been so very little taking the piss out of David Dickens here? I mean come on how annoying is Mr Perma-tan man? I don't think there is a single impressionist over here who doesn't do a David Dickens routine.

What annoys me most is the "experts" who never, ever disagree with Perma-Tan Man when he's giving his usual "looks like a bobby dazzler/ it's a duffer" schtick. Are they "new" labour MP's in disguise?
