Business/Economics people: Is the premise stated in "The Producers" true?? |

I mean to ask anyone who knows anything about business or economics;'cause I did not major in that! Is the premise that you can make more money with a business that fails than with one that succeeds true in certain circumstances,and exactly how does that work??
I have a really good reason for asking, I promise.
