Poll question: Horniest Song of the 60's/70's???
Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 08:00 AM by unidentifiedbassplay
Inspired by the "Lucretia MacEvil" thread.
"Horniest" is defined here as "possessing a killer horn section".

5. Big Chicago fan here
Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 08:14 AM by patsified
I voted for "other" because I think that "Beginnings" may be a bit hornier than "25 or 6 to 4" (which is so guitar heavy), but I could be wrong. I'll listen to both this morning and decide, LOL! I could listen to Pankow and Parazaider all day long.

BTW, I love everything Chicago did up until Kath died, and after that they went soft and sucked, IMO. Kath was the true soul and innovator of that group.

on edit: I thought he wanted us to talk about songs with strong horn sections, as opposed to sexually horny songs?

10. Yes, unfortunately
From 7/4/03:

"(CBS/AP) Velvet-voiced R&B crooner Barry White, renowned for his lush baritone and lyrics that oozed sex appeal on songs such as "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe," died Friday morning, his manager said.

White, who had suffered kidney failure from years of high blood pressure, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center around 9:30 a.m., said manager Ned Shankman. He was 58.

White had been undergoing dialysis treatment and had been hospitalized since last September."

33. Hey UIBP!
Can't believe you forgot "Get It On" by Chase. Now that song had some horns on it.

That cascading horn section fall at the end of the bridge is one of the coolest things in the whole of the 70's. And those guys could rock pretty hard for jazz dudes.

Funny side note: When we were doubling the size of our PA, we got a deal at an auction on a couple of 2000 series JBL horns. (No drivers, just horns.) They belonged to Bill Chase!

So, obviously i have a dual reason for remembering that band.

20. Good choice!
I thought of that one after I'd suggested "Beginnings." I think you might be right. But the end of "Beginnings" just knocks me out, I wish it'd go on forever.

(BTW, do you get the feeling that there are TWO conversations going on in this thread??)

Horny, horny, horny.

You can't get any more horny than that.

I believe it was off of their "It Crawled Into My Hand, Honest" album.

26. "Horniest" vs. "Horn-iest"
Hmm-for "Horn-iest" I would go with "Twenty-five or Six to Four" by Chicago, or "Spinning Wheel" by BS and T. For "Horniest" I might recommend "Right Time of the Night" by Jennifer Warren. And, not to be picky, but "Do You Wanna Dance" was first done by Bobby Freeman back in the fifties, and then redone by Maria Muldauer.

35. Bend It - Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich
Bend it, bend it, just a little bit and
take it easy, show you're likin' it,
and lover, you know that we're gonna hit
the heights, 'cos I'm sure that we're made to fit
together just like pieces of a
jigsaw puzzle, what's the hustle

Bend it, bend it, just a little more,
without you, baby, I'm so insecure,
but you can make me feel that I am sure,
I've got a sickness only you can cure,
so just relax, there's stacks of time, but honey,
please don't tease me, try to please me.
Oh, yeah, that's good , oh, yes, ah,yes.
+ repeat verse 1 +

Bend it, bend it, just a little bit and
take it easy, show you're likin' it, and ah, show me now,
yeah, that's right, ah,oh yeah, yeah, that's right,
c'mon now, right right right.

(Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky Mick & Tich)
