The Long Hot Summer....Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward
....just watched this classic...got the DVD from the library and it was a TRIP...the extras told of how they held the premiere of this movie in Baton Rouge since they filmed the entire movie here in Louisiana....also starred Orsen Wells...Angela Lansbury and Lee Remick....was based on some William Faulkner short stories...and the movie was concidered too sexy in it's time...1958!

Anyone else like this oldie? :)

Just for the flavor of the south during that whole era, this movie is worth watching, but Woodward and Newman sizzle!

I also love 'Big Daddy' Orson Wells.

3. I love it too.....they did sizzle didn't they....
....there was another extra feature on the DVD which had interviews with them both and Angela Lansbury....Paul and Joanne talked of their buying a huge brass bed in New Orleans while makin' this film and they still have the same bed in their bedroom to this very day...the antique dealer told 'em it had been made for a whorehouse there in the Quarter and she said she just HAD to have it!

I love Newman and Woodward! One of those rare Hollywood marriages that last. :-)

Newman is one of my favorites of all time... and I love his products too!

5. I am not eager for the sequel
"The Cat In The Hat On A Hot Tin Roof"! :o

Tennessee Williams set to Seussian rhyme.

Well, it sounds good (your movie that is), and will be added to my list. :-)

7. The Hustler!
Now THAT one I've seen. That was the first of the great "H" movies, including "Hud" and "Hondo". :D

9. Oh yeah!
I knew I forgot one. :-)

Sometimes it can be embarrassing how recently Indians were poorly depicted in film, even with great, well-intentioned actors.

11. the one from the 30's?
I saw a restored version of that many years ago in the theater... I was curious because I liked the book. It wasn't nearly as bad as Charlie Chan movies, or the Fu Manchu ones with Karloff and others.

I am not too PC though... I love the Chinese restuarant scene in "A Christmas Story". :D

16. Plus, as noted, it has Lee Remick in it
Purr purr, purr purr, purr purr.
John
Lee Remick had a lot to do with my reaching puberty, as did Ann Margret and Tina Turner. Thanks, ladies!!
