1. Make a video of yourself doing some of that metal work, so we can all
see!

9. That is a tantalizing suggestion.
Way back in my youth I was fortunate to
spend a week in Minnesota, summer of 1976.
I would like to see the trees and lakes again.
However my travel this vacation will be to
central California.

I will pencil Minnesota on my general to do list, six year version.

:hi:

Thanks for the invite, Zookeeper

12. Anytime, Ptah!
I was lucky enough to go way, way up north this summer and fish (for the first time since my childhood!) on a beautiful, clean, quiet lake. (I'm now suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Fishing Disorder.) Fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing and visiting the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area are all great reasons to visit. Not to mention that the Twin Cities has wonderful museums, restaurants, theater and parks.

(I don't work for the MN Tourist Bureau. Really.)

But, central California is beautiful also. Have fun!!!

Are the leaves peak or past where you are?

They will be past in 2 weeks in Central IL..

13. Well, they are peaking a little early this year...
So, most of our leaves will be kaput two weeks from now, also. I would think you'll still have color when ours has passed.

Right now our colors are glorious. Unfortunately, I'm busy scraping and painting my house (single-handedly), so I glance at the pretty leaves and keep my fingers crossed that the days will stay above 50 degrees until I'm finished!

14. Go duck hunting, go hiking...
go fishing.

That's what I'd do anyway.

15. I think you're onto something.
Since the desert has few fish (hint:no water),
I'm left with hunting or hiking.
I got rid of my firearms soon after the birth of my oldest,
so I'll have to pass on the hunting, unless you meant
photos, which I could do after some hiking.
I like the way you think, ya Redneck.

19. I'm hiking Sunday
It's peak foliage season in my neck of the woods. The weather looks to be great and the views will be fantastic.

20. The closest I've ever been to those colors was one fall, Providence
This is one of the times I am jealous of the northeastern US.

Thanks for that picture.

16. It depends on where you are--
if you were anywhere near the Mid-Atlantic states, you know, New Hope, PA, just about an hour North of Philadelphia, is a truly lovely area for shopping and eating. Just north of there is Reading, where you've got discount shopping galore--but hey--you know, Philly itself is really nice--tons of four and five star restaurants. Super shopping in the Eighth and Walnut area if you like jewelery or check out South Street bewteen 2nd and, oh, I dunno, like, 13th. And along Broad, there are great bars and bands. You can check out Lancaster--more discount shopping, out the turnpike, not too far, and see antique shops, Amish, brewpubs what have you--damn--you know, SE PA is very nice! We also have uh, Kutztown, soft pretzels, and er, well, the Philly suburbs rule--just trust! This is a great area if you like to drive to your attractions.

18. Thanks for the recommendations, vixengrl.
But I should have mentioned I am reluctant to travel
very far east of the Mississippi River.

Although, now that I think about it,
some of my ancestors did live in Philadelphia.

OK, I'll pencil Penn. into my six year plan.
