1. I am happy for you
Pets are a special part of our lives and it is sad to see them suffer. I am glad to hear of the improvement.

3. He was a shelter kitty who may have been in a kitty fight in his pre SPCA
days, and may have had the boil on one of his legs from that. Who knows? But at least he's now become quite the purring livewire, meow.

5. Abscesses do take awhile to heal
And are ugly and smelly. But they do heal fairly well given time, attention and medicine.

Just watch it to make sure it doesn't close up before the vet is ready for it to.

6. The vet had to lance the boil or abscess (under anesthesia of course)
and the kitty had to have a drain in his leg for about 5 days and wear an Elizabethan collar for about the same time until he escaped from the thing.

7. Surprised he kept it on that long
Just keep him from licking it if you can. Not only does it keep from infecting it further, it also keeps him from licking off the medicine
