A few months ago, I got a letter from Social Security saying that they had "overpaid" me and now needed $7K from me. That was followed a few weeks later by another letter saying that they had overpaid me and needed $9K from me. They're wrong on both counts; it would take several hours to recount the numerous errors they've made with my account, but the short of it is they actually owe me another $1,633.00 or so. I sent in all the correct forms and letters and apeals explaining exactly how far up their asses they have their heads, and the matter should be resolved within my lifetime.
Today I got a letter from the IRS. They'd like $1,066.00. Why? Did I underreport my earnings? Nope. Apparently they didn't get my Form 5329 and think my pension is subject to the additional 10% withholding. Well, it isn't, and I have a copy of the form for them. Sorry, Georgie.
