3. oh yeah
"My Wife" officially made John Entwistle the George Harrison of The Who - a great songwriter who usually got one or two great cuts on albums dominated by (a) genius songwriter(s).

Not a single flaw on "Who's Next", I'll grant you that.

5. STREET LEGAL
All the great, none of the hype. B on B and HGWY 61 are cool and the gang, but Street Legal is unknown cool. And anything from the past five years (all those folk remakes) is great stuff.

I think "Street Legal" is an interesting album (I own it on vinyl), with a few gems, but doesn't have the sustained power I love from Dylan.

Best cuts from it: "Senor (Tales Of Yankee Power)", "Where Are You Tonight"? (Journey Through Dark Heat)" and "Changing of the Guard".

Then... his descent into madness followed...

11. Its where I can go to hear the unknown Dylan
unlike all his other good stuff. I'm a big fan, but even I still haven't listened to his born again shit. lol. I really like his yearly folk cd efforts.

the bootleg I have of Dylan in Idaho this summer, note the inclusion of some classics from Blonde on Blonde

Tombstone Blues
Tell Me That It Isn't True
Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum
It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
Things Have Changed
Highway 61 Revisited
Visions Of Johanna
Drifter's Escape
Blind Willie McTell
Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again
Love Sick
Honest With Me
Bye And Bye
Summer Days
Like A Rolling Stone
All Along The Watchtower

(Excellent- my 500th post is advocating subversion in the form of bootlegs)

9. yeah, I notice that the Dead
and company always state that while its okay to tape them, it is illegal to tape Dylan. Every time they are together this info is added to their web site.

10. Congrats on 500!
"Visions of Johanna" is my favorite.

I love that he played "Blind Willie McTell", the masterpiece he should have left on "Infidels". But that's Bob. :-)

19. But me, I expected it to happen...
I knew he'd lost control...

When he built a fire on Main Street,
And shot it full of holes. :D

17. I agree
"Blonde On Blonde" is the greatest....

followed by "Blood On The Tracks" and "Highway 61 Revisited"

and "Visions Of Johanna" is the best song, no question about it.

18. "Visions of Johanna"

In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's bluff with the key chain
And the all - night girls they whisper of escapades out on the D - train
We can hear the night watcman click his flashlight
Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane
Louise she's all right she's just near
She's delicate and seems like the mirror
But she just makes it all too concise and too clear
That Johanna's not here
The ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face
Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place.

Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously
He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously
And when bringing her name up
He speaks of a farewell kiss to me
He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all
Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall
Oh, how can I explain ?
It's so hard to get on
And these visions of Johanna they kept me up past the dawn.

Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles
See the primitive wallflower freeze
When the jelly - faced women all sneeze
Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze
I can't find my knees"
Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule
But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel.

WOW! powerful! I applaud your choice, ZW!
