The Charlotte Observer
October 01, 2006
Chatham County authorities issued an Amber Alert early this morning for a two-year-old taken during a break-in at a Siler City home.
Authorities believe the boy, Edwin Sanchez Gonzales, was taken by his father, Jorge Sanchez Aguilera, 29, also of Siler City, and three other men after they forced themselves into the home, according to a release on the sheriff office's Web site. Siler City is about 100 miles northeast of Charlotte.
Aguilera is described as 5'6', 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, according to Code Amber, a Web site that tracks the missing child alerts. The site said he could be headed toward South Carolina, where he has family.
The site also described the boy as 3-feet tall, 25 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and a diaper.
Chatham authorities said the suspects restrained the boy's mother and two others with duct tape, then threatened to kill the three if they did not turn over the boy. The men left the home with the boy, possibly fleeing in a burgundy Ford Expedition.
Authorities believe the men might have used a handgun during the incident and are armed and dangerous. The suspects are wanted on charges on home invasion, feloniously restraint and child abduction.
Anyone with information on the case should call the Chatham County Sheriff's Office at 919-542-2911.
