1. Nothing whatsoever. Love dogs.
I adore my neighbor's dog and she adores me.

I was raised by an airedale.

Having two cats does NOT mean a dislike for dogs.

20. In counterpoint...
...that cats ion our house makes nastier smells than the dog does and is the one taht crawls into your lap while reading the paper. Neither of the is hyperactice, but the cat meows incessantly while the dog only barks when someone comes to the door. Your feeding your dog too much food. My dog goes outside, the cat is teh one that shits in the house. She's also the one that barfs up hairballs in the "nicest" places. Not the dog, and in closing my dog speaks two languages. That cat can't even speak one.

Edited on Tue Dec-23-03 11:03 AM by Blue_Chill
My Beagle could outsmart any cat on the planet. He's even beaten the neighborhood strays at their own game and beat them down using paws only.

Not to mention cats are as indifferent as a lamp on a good day and as evil as demon on a bad one. You must keep a sandbox inside the house for them to do their business and then suffer the indignity of cleaing it up everyday. Dogs at least spare you the task of scooping up their urine. The meow constantly, refuse to let you read, scratch you when they get upset for reasons no one can figure out, are 20 times harder to get in the tub, cough up hairballs everywhere, claw up your furniture, and serve no purpose at all in a home. At least I can say my dog will warn me if someone tries to break in, a cat will sneak away quietly and watch you die from a safe distance.

31. Boab
Bush Owns All Blame

Therefore your concern about negativity is understandable.

Understandable but not warranted in this case.

There are many user names that stand out from the crowd at DU &

booberdog is a favorite here at the moof hut.

While reading thru the DU forums one of the ways moof adds

some extra enjoyment is to try to think of the other possibilities to

explain the different names. Thus boo as in someone sneakin up from

behind & shouting " BOO! " , " ber " sounds like the bbbbrrrrr sound

made to indicate cold temperature. "dawg" could mean dog or foot.

While some people no doubt have a scary foot or get a cold foot, having

a cold or scary dog seems slightly more likely.

So it was basically a late night mind exercise and was in no way meant

to direct any negativity. Negative vibe seem to be present in abundance so the

goal is to detract from it not to add to it.

The part about dookus (another great username) was meant as a reply to

the thread starter but as moof is not a post count hound, it was just

added in with your reply as there is so little chance or need for a

reply to anything moof posts.

Also not that it makes any difference but moof only drinks pina coladas

at "My Bar" on the beach at Grand Cayman so intoxication played no

part in the inspiration for the reply.

So cliff notes since a lot of times people ask for them after a moof explaination

1.boo ber dawg? WTF is that supoosed to mean?
Nothing just having some fun & not at your expense so no harm intended.

2. WTF are you talking about, moof?
Usually nothing that is of any interest to anyone but moof but there is no problem supplying an explaination to anyone that wants one.

3.I must be socially retarded so
I'm gong to stick my neck out here and ask you to explain that to me,
Not sure of the connection between social retardation and asking for an explaination but none of your past posts have been anything other than entertaining or informative.

4. knowing that I may not like the answer.
Again this type of world view is shrub's fault.

5. And what does dookuses's small furry have to do with this?
That part was meant for elperromagico and the complete line was
"irregardless of dookuses's small furry friends' opinion of your opinion"

6.You are drunk, or something.
No, reality is already surreal enough without complicating it with booze or drugs.

Just that it would be cruel to keep a dog in a small apartment when I can't be around all day long to play with it and take it out for walks, etc.

A cat is a little more self-sufficient.

My ferrets would terrorize it. My cat can hold her own in the face of the weasel brothers, but a dog wouldn't stand a chance. Plus, I'm at full-pet capacity. My sister has a great dog that I love to play with when I go to her house.

30. personalities of dog/cat lovers
I once read where cat lovers are intuitive types, independent, interested in the arts, unafraid of being different.

Dog lovers are sensor types who enjoy having an animal be subservient to them. They are group people who will do almost anything to fit in.

Sensor people get their values from the outside world while intuitives look within. Sensors look to others for life guidelines while intuitives make up their own.

Of course, these are sweeping generalizations and there will always be exceptions.

47. Hey, Cher -- and you're right about maintenance!
We have four cats and one dog. I've had cats for 20 years. Never once, in all of that 20 years, have I had to get out of bed with a raging influenza and a 102 degree fever, dress to the teeth and go outside with any of the cats in the middle of a blizzard to do anything. Did it three days in a row, three walks a day, last year during my Christmas break. I had the fever because our overenthusiastic little pooch, Max, jumped up in my face and scratched my cornea -- so I had to go sit in the emergency room for two hours with twenty other people, all of whom had the flu, so every single millimeter of the waiting room was a festering Petri dish of virii.

The dog behaves better now -- we'd only had him a couple of months, at the time -- but we still have to walk him no matter what the weather is.

Don't get me wrong -- I love Max for what he is -- but this is an illustration of why many of us say cats are easier than dogs. Not necessarily better -- though with four cats, it's difficult not to realize that their personalities vary as much from cat to cat as, in some cases, they do between cats and dogs. One of our cats acts so much like a dog to begin with (other than that pooping in a box of sand thing), we used to call him a cross between a ginger tom and a Norwich terrier. We called him 'puppy cat,' and Mr. Nownow frequently calls Gord by the dog's name and vice-versa.

Gord is a very affectionate little suck muffin. The word 'aloof' -- which cat haters love to throw around when talking about why they hate cats -- has never applied to Gord in his life with us.

of how dogs and cats see the world.

Dogs look at their humans and think, he feeds me and gives me water and plays with me when I'm lonely and gives me a warm place to sleep -- he must be a god!
Cats look at their humans and think, he feeds me and gives me water and plays with me when I'm lonely and gives me a warm place to sleep -- I must be a god!

I grew up with both cats and dogs and love them both for their unique qualities. I have two cats because they fit into my life so much better at this point than a dog would.

But if I ever get a house with a yard I'll have both again. Luckily my current kitty has some "dog" in her (I swear I hear her say "ruff" once in awhile!):D
