OK, fixers of DU.
So.

Ever found something broken, looked at it and decided it needed fixin', but then thought that you'd better make sure your "significant other" saw it broken and remarked upon it, to ensure they knew later that you'd fixed it? So you could store that away for "relationship points" (which we all know can be redeemed for valuable cash and prizes)?

And, non-fixers: ever caught 'em doing that?

1. You get more points for fixing it right away
then pointing out than you fixed it.

Otherwise, they get a chance to tell you to fix it and then it's their brownie points for noticing.

Damn the games we play in relationships.

2. Actually, highest points
I think would be getting asked if you would fix it, then being able to say you've already done it.

4. Better yet...
...if you time it so you get seen fixing it.

3. Fix it and say nothing.

Old habit from my last marriage. she had a rule: "Who finds it broken broke it." Unless it was one of her kids, then it was me or my kid....

Hell, that's my business. they pay me to roam around fixing busted shit before anyone else notices it's busted....

5. My SO was the one who broke them
So I never had too.

She would be too impatient to let me do things right, she tehn did some fast half-assed thing, and then I had to really fix it.

I HAD a coffee table. The wood that held one of the legs was broken. The fix was to glue the wood together. I needed glue so I didn't fix it immediately.

I came home from work and found my then wife had driven about 1000 nails trhough the leg intot he broke piece of wood. It lasted about 2 weeks and then was completely irrepairable.

She bought a paper towel rack that reuired mounting on a plaster wall, rather than wait for me to get the necessary inserts for the screws to hold it up, she drove big nails into the wall. It stayed up until about the third towel was removed. I then had to fix the plaster and re-hang it.

I could go on and on.

6. Or you could just do nothing
And then TELL your SO that it was broken, but you fixed it. Did a damned fine job of it, too.
John
Of course, such prevarication is probably why I've been divorced twice.
