I have a 22-year-old cat
She was my ex's and he has had her since he was 13. He gave her to me when we broke up because he knew how much I loved her and he was going homeless.I just feel bad for her. I left my plate to go get something from the kitchen only to find my porkchop gone when i got back. She got it. What could I do?!?! She can do whatever she wants! Anyway, she was chittering to me just now and I decided to post about her. HERE SHE IS!!!

5. Mostly she wants to sleep
Her circulation isn't what it used to be so she gets a heating pad in her bed.

3. It's funny
When she drags food off my plate it reminds me of a mountain lion dragging off their kill.

4. Thank you for making me feel a little bit better.
Call Me Wesley and I haven't slept since Saturday night, because our five-year-old boy cat, Ginger, again is passing blood in his urine. After a visit to the emergency vet clinic last night, Ginger probably will be okay, but my greatest hope is that he'll live a long life of being beloved, like your beautiful girl. Thank you for making me feel a little better, Roon.

8. She's wonderful
Once a day I pick her up and just hold her close for awhile. She puts up with it, but when she is ready to be put back down, she starts purring. It's like, "maybe if i purr, they'll put me down!" lol

9. Our oldest is 17
He gets anything he wants. Mostly he wants Fancy Feast and naps. At night he sleeps between his two favorite humans with his butt under the down comforter.

10. Yeah, she likes fancy feast
but I am on disability and can't afford it. So she gets any food that I make. My little bastard adolescence cat picks on her, so she spends her time high on a table, by my computer. She has her heated bed, her litterbox, and her food and water. She also has a window that she loves to watch out of. Here is the little bastard that picks on her!!

11. We had one that made it till 23...
Edited on Mon Sep-25-06 12:54 PM by Rosco T.
.. and had it not been for a flea infested dog that gave her a terrible case of fleas that almost drained her dry (she recovered but had kidney failure a few months later) she would probably have made it a lot longer...

.. but, then again, she did come back anyway and is working on her second body at 7 years now.

31. Trust me, they do (story within)..
the old girl was a crotchy girl, but still a love. She has this habit of crawling up on the better half's stomach while she laid on the bed, getting right up nose-to-nose and doing a 'breathing purr' (half purr, half heavy breathing, purr-flutter-flutter). Very unique...

about 2 months after she left, wife found a kitten out while working (way out in the middle of nowhere). A bare handful of furr, maybe 4 weeks old.

Brought her home and set her down for the night, ate like a starving creature and went to sleep. About 11pm, we heard a 'scruffle.. scruffle... pounce.. scruffle... scruffle.. tippy-toe... tippy-toe..' coming across the room, up the side of the bed, across the bed. Here comes the little one... up wife's leg.. right stomach... straight to her nose.... purr-flutter-flutter.....

ok.. strange enough.. we went almost 2 weeks before calling her ANYTHING but KITTEN, GIRL, FUZZY, PAIN-IN-TH..er anyway...

after 2 weeks, when she gotten her legs a little, we left her in the bedroom and went out to the living room (three rooms away). And I called the name of she who had gone away, softly, not a loud call...

... and HERE SHE COMES bounding thru the house in a dead run.. straight to me.

What else to do?

She took her old name back, and without prompting fell into her same routine, same sunny places, same silly poses, same pain-in-th.. er.. same everything. I kid that she's actually 30 after getting a rebuild job..

I have three others that have 'come home', one since her that's actually on his third go round (I hate to say, he's dumb as a sack of door-knobs and I don't think he ever knew he left...).

So yeah, if they have 'unfinished business' with you, or feel that they won't find a better place, they'll be back, sooner or later.

12. She is a beatiful, awesome cat!
I'm glad she's still so healthy and active. :)

I hope your ex is doing well. I was homeless for while after I got hurt, so I know what that situation can be like. I hope he's not homeless anymore, or at least not on the street.

14. Momma cat is 16 and spoiled rotten
She sits on the table by me when we eat and i'll feed her, she loves mashed potatos, last night she got impatient, when i wasn't looking she helped herself to my potatos.
I hadn't thought of using a heating pad for her to sleep on, she has arthritis, that would probably feel good on her old bones.

a few weeks ago. She was 23.

Wonderful what an inside life will do for them. And the oldest documented cat was 34 when he died.

18. Two 18 year olds hanging in there.
The other night one of them decided to clean my bald head for kicks. Then I was saying thanks and he slapped me right in the face. Cats are like that.

21. How sweet! I've heard of cats living to the age of 25 yrs
but of course all they do at that point is sleep. Probably the case for her nowadays, too, right?

Our beloved Alfalfa lived 19 very full years and died in my arms 2 yrs ago. Yup, she had a good long run.... O8)

May your cat continue to do the same. :hi:

30. My ex was only 13 when he got her
and he thought she was a boy. So he named her Daniel. It wasn't until she had an unexpected litter of kittens that he realized she was a girl. So she's a girl cat with a boy's name, Daniel.
