Part 2 in a series, wherein the author attempts to register his entire tiny mountain town....
Excellent morning, dropped off papers for about 25 more people who weren't registered to vote, or had moved recently (one guy: "Yeah, I moved here recently." Me: "Oh, welcome to town!" Guy: "Oh, I've been here two years.").
What's amazing me about this process is how I've had no one who hasn't seemed really excited, or impressed, or generally enthusiastic about my project. I'm chipping away at the backwoods Colorado "Git off mah land!" fiction, I think.
Had a good conversation with a guy who was clearly a Democrat, and he told me how inspired he was at this thing. Living in Colorado and being a Democrat is a rough political existence (his words: "Yeah, if we ever elect a Democrat in this state, it's clear evidence the party has gone too far center.") and he said he had a renewed hope for 2004.
So I'm taking Tuesday off to play with the sled dogs in the big snow we got last night. Barring some really interesting conversation (or buckshot in my ass), don't look for updates more than once a week.
