Anyone here never get a speeding ticket?
Or otherwise motor vehicle related? I have been pulled over for speeding or some other violation at least 10 times since I got my license (which at this point was over 15 years ago) and never have the given me a ticket. I always get a verbal warning. My only accident when I was at fault was at 17, I skidded on ice and hit another car and I still got a just verbal warning. (Now knocking wood and throwing salt over my shoulder.)
The latest was Saturday. I was taking my daughter to the ice rink at the University of CT campus for some type of 6th grade party deal, and I was looking down at directions for a moment, and missed (or really 'ran') a stopsign. I was pulled over and not only did I run the stopsign, my registration wasn't in the car. (I can thank populistdad and his quick brain for not putting it back, unknown to me who just assumed it was there, after we needed it for insurance purposes after we were hit by someone in a Delaware parking lot on a road trip last April.) I used to think it was because it was a "cute girl" thing or something, but this time, it was a female officer, and she still let me go with nothing. (Although, I'm sure it still could have been the cute girl thing.)

Am I extrodinarily lucky or is this one of the few priveledges I get in life as a women? (Besides multi-whatevers that is!) Is this my one thing I get for labor pains and making 70 cents for ever dollar a man makes?

2. I've had 2 speeding tickets in 25 years and 1 for an accident
So you just must be lucky. Two of my tickets were within a year or 2, that was 4 or 5 years ago and I had to pay 100 bucks to go to defensive driving school. :eyes:

3. My husband thinks I flash my boobs
At least this time I had my witness with me, so he knows I don't really do THAT. (Well, not to get out of speeding tickets anyway.) ;)

4. LOL! Maybe THAT's what I'm doing wrong!
I just gotta start flashin' some flesh! ;)

I don't have seat belts because my dog chews them up. That will be my next ticket so I'll keep that in mind. :D

5. Does a citation for 105 in a 55 count?
O.K. It was either speed to the next exit or poop my pants.

Actually, I was truly ill. I'd gotten dysentery on a recent overseas trip. The cop said that he'd heard that one before. I don't think he'd ever seen what happened next.

Let's just say that I AM NOT going to foul a $1,200.00 suit and that there was no more waiting.

He ended up giving me a warning - and a roll of paper towels from his trunk. Very nice, some of those PA cops.

7. No ticket, no warning, never stopped
Ok, I was stopped once, because a tail light was out. I was glad to know about it.

It's not as likely to get a ticket for speeding, if you don't speed. :)

I will also say, there's a certain amount of luck...... nobody is able to drive perfect all the time. But, if you aren't trying to get away with something, the chances of a ticket greatly diminish.

8. One parking ticket
I got one parking ticket in 1986 in L.A. Does that count?

Never had a moving violation. I'm proud of that record, especially since I'm not even a particularly good looking guy. I think most people don't make it to age 38 without at least one. OTOH, I have been in 3 accidents, all minor fender benders. I wasn't cited in any of them. (In 2 I was rear-ended, so not much to argue there.)

Please spare us the 70-cents-per-dollar drivel. I work with plenty of women who make a lot more than I do. They may be more skilled, but they definitely don't work harder.

9. Not a single ticket
My record is squeaky-clean. No tickets, ever. Nothing. Pull up my file and you'll find it empty. In all the years I've been a driver (since 1984) I've only been pulled over twice.

10. I have been driving siince 1966 and have only had ONE
Edited on Mon Dec-22-03 03:10 AM by SoCalDem
I got that one about 10 years ago.. I was in a hurry to get to my son's soccer game and I worked 57 miles from home. I had to work late and was trying to make his game..

The odd thing is, that while the highway patrol was behind me, there were SEMI trucks PASSING me, but he chose to stop me.. It cost me $81.00 and I had to go to traffic school.. (what a wasted day)..

That's my ONLY one though :)

11. Not me!
Got ticketed twice. The first one was for running a red light on a small two lane side road. It was 4 in the morning and the street was deserted. Came to a red light. Waited. Five minutes later it was still red and I was still waiting and the street was still empty. Decided the light must be broken so ran it.

Second time I was ticketed for doing 43 in a 40 zone by a not so nice cop wo gave me the ticket and gave a verbal trashing about speeding. I have very little luck with cops it seems. Didn't want any trouble cause I was in the process of moving and had really little time. So I did the sheep routine. x(

12. Not yet
I just got my permanent license though. I've only had my license for two years. I get nervous whenever I see a law enforcement vehicle when I'm driving. I think that I would start crying or have a panic attack if I were pulled over. Being pulled over by the police is one of my big fears.

15. Never gotten a ticket
I've been driving for 22 years and consider myself lucky because I am a sports car fiend and love to drive fast. I'm just careful and know not to push it in areas known for harboring the man.
Now that I've said this, watch my luck run out.

19. Only parking tickets
I've never had a speeding ticket. Only parking tickets, when I've forgotten to move my car for street cleaning or overstayed at meters.

I think I've just been lucky. But I don't tend to drive over about 85 mph even on a clear freeway, so there are always other people going faster.

20. Never got a speeding ticket.
I did get a parking ticket once. I was going to go check the meter, but the professor I was talking to said that it was raining and the meter maids wouldn't be out. Oh, how wrong he was...

22. My only ticket was for a tail light that was out.
No warning either, just a ticket. And the cop stipulated that the ticket had to be paid while he was on duty "so that he'd know I was in compliance", and then the lovely gentleman went on midnights for 2 weeks. Me, suspicious?

23. No tickets yet! (knock on wood)
I've been pulled over twice for speeding, both on the same stretch of road (just south of Indianapolis). Both times the trooper let me off with a warning; the second time I really lucked out, because the previous warning must have just a week or so before dropped off of their computers.

24. Two minor tickets in approximately 400,000 miles
of driving. Both ended up being about $35. They were 20 years apart, and the second one was nearly five years ago.

Only accident I ever had when I was driving was getting rear-ended at a red light. Guess I wasn't supposed to be waiting for it to turn green. :eyes:
