Poll question: Funniest movie scene ever:
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 11:53 AM by bob_weaver
Of course there are tons more, so please reply with your choice if it's not listed here. There are too many Monty Python scenes to choose from, I couldn't decide on one.

3. I've always loved Mongo riding into town on the Brahma bull
"You can't park that animal there!"

And the whole "Put the candle back." routine in Young Frankenstein.

4. "Birdy num nums..."
from The Party, with Peter Sellers. When he accidentally flips on a loudspeaker in this fancy house, and he's reading the bird seed container. It's being broadcast all through the house.

I stumbled across it years ago on PBS, never having seen it before, and I about had to go to the hospital I was laughing so hard.

I was literally rolling on the floor with tears rolling down my face.

7. A whole act from "Tootsie" gets my vote.
* Jessica Lange thinks Dustin Hoffman is a lesbian, and can't handle it
* Hoffman goes to the night club with Charles Durning (Lange's father), who proposes
* Hoffman goes home, where George Gaynes shows up with lust in his heart
* Bill Murray walks in on them, and says to Hoffman, "You slut."
* Teri Garr shows up . . . that scene alone might be my choice for funniest

My favorite film.

12. I agree
I loved just about every scene in that movie with him and Terri Garr. Her character is really kind of sad, but she does everything really spot on. That could have been a movie unto itself.

14. She and Jessica Lange both had Oscar noms. for their supporting roles
in that film. I'd've loved to see Terri win it but, alas, it was Jessica's year.

19. Terri really should have won
Jessica's part was a walk through for the most part. But what Terri did with that role...her comic timing is just excellent and there are some scenes in that I know by heart. I loved seeing Terri playing Lisa Kudrow's mom on friends; they are so much alike it's strange.

23. I saw her in person once. She was a regular on "The Sonny and Cher
Comedy Hour" and we went to a taping of it, the one where Jack Palance was the guest star. This was in the early 1970s. Teri was chatting with an audience member during one of the many long, boring waits between scenes. She seemed to be a friendly person. I didn't get to meet her though. By the way Cher was pretty foul-mouthed, whenever she blew her lines she would always swear.

For some reason, I thought the scene in which Hannah and Martin can't understand one another through the door was hilarious.

18. VERY lowbrow humor, but...in "Blazing Saddles"...
the campfire scene. And we all know what it is and I can't say anymore, because I'd have to remove my own post. :-)

But when I saw "Blazing Saddles" for the first time, and saw that scene...I was laughing so hard tears were streaming down my face. The audience roared with laughter during that scene.

22. Something funny about that scene...
...the first time I saw it on TV, they had taken out the farting sounds and replaced them with burping sounds. This was about 20 years ago. I don't know if they are still showing that version on TV any more.
