For every year that they've worked for the family-owned business.

That is one generous boss. Only thing he could have done more would have been $1000 and a cat.

2. Or A Rethuglican Cat From The Shelter
This guy practiced what he preached and decided to share his profits amoung the people that built his business up for him.

Isn't that what the Rethuglicans claim and the Democrats deliver?

4. Indeed.
No outsourcing for this guy. He rewarded his employees rather than shipping their jobs overseas. Great guy!

3. Similar to the story last week about the shoemake in Maine who
did the same.

I'm telling you, you can't but this kind of publicity and goodwill. It will come back a thousandfold.

6. Exactly
That's why I contributed to the campaigns of several people here at DU.

Bribery and outright theft dosen't build an national economy; people do....

Edited on Sun Dec-21-03 02:44 AM by MinnFats
those people are the best.
they are congenitally generous and incapable of dishonesty.
people don't stay with a company that long because of money.
I'll bet this guy has been a great boss for years...

oh
like I'd ever actually SEE my CEO. I kid you not, at a shareholder meeting when someone brought up his salary in light of the fact there were no raises and the stock had tanked, he replied, "MY WIFE LIKES TO SHOP". :puke:

12. Since Whenever Has That Stopped You?
Every asshole needs to be kicked sometimes just to line up their priorities and functions in life.

Maybe he's afraid of the "Company" you're about to run?

11. Note that it's a local and privately-held business...
... no stockholders threatening the owner if he does something like this, and he is able to have some respect for his employees, who are his neighbors, too.

They're out there--the Aaron Feuersteins of Malden Mills, the Jim Sinegals of Costco.

A lot of the reasons for these people's success is here:

Lefties aren't afraid of business. Just big business with a few giant overfed stockholders to make happy....

13. True
Costco competes and co-operates while Wal-Mart buys their way out.

Still, I'd be very afraid of getting on the bad side of Skittles for ANY reason.

She just might decide to re-arrange my Intestinal Tract with a well-placed kick in the area of the gluteaous maximus.
