This thread is inspired by lildreamer's thread about non-pet owners who visit our homes and criticize our pets. I think this is a broader issue, which is, do I keep my house for myself or for possible visitors? To wit:

If I have children and you don't like children, don't come to my home and expect to get away with correcting or criticizing my children (unless they are threatening you with bodily harm!).

If you don't like second-hand smoke, don't come into a smoker's home and complain about the smoke.

If I offer you a beer, don't criticize the brand I drink. Just say, no thanks.

And don't complain that my home is too hot/too cold for you. It's the way I want it.

In short, it's just a matter of simple courtesy. When I come to your house, I'll honor your choices.
