1. Get him a buddy!
Then they can keep you awake with their kitty games at 3:00am.

2. I'm gonna fedex the damn cat to your house
and you see if you find it amusing to be woken up 3-4 times a night.

5. One of our cats would beat on the door in the morning.
On school days, it was no big deal, because I had to get up anyway. But on weekends, my mom would let the cat in and she's sleep on my head while purring loudly. So much for sleeping in.

Of course, my mom's cats were de-clawed so there was no chance of them ripping the house to shreds.

I think your kitty has abandonment issues. :-(

6. I do work 10 hour days
but it's only so we both can have a roof over our heads

But I do give him plenty of play time before and after work.

8. Well, since no one has called about him...
...it's fair to assume that he was abandoned, I think. Maybe he has to get used to the fact that you aren't going anywhere when you go to sleep, and you'll come home after work. I think he'll settle down eventually.

9. I dread going away for Xmas
I'm only staying for the night, but I'm still questioning if I should pack the kitty along with me.

10. Hrm...that's a toughie.
My friends leave over night all the time, but their cats are used to it.

I think he'll be fine. He might be a tad miffed at you when you get back, but he'll get over it.

7. are you planning on keeping this cat for good?
I mean, is this Lynnesin's pet now - or are you still just holding it until the real owner shows?

11. I have the solution
>Why does he have to Meow real loud and wake me up everytime I fall asleep.<

Here's what works at our house with our Maine Coon boys, eighteen months and ten months old. We have to wear them out before bedtime. Play with them -- teaser toys work great, and they'll chase them till you get sick of playing with them.

Our older boy likes to meow really loudly as we're falling asleep, too. I think he does this for attention. :eyes: (Like they get NONE of that...)

Part of the reason why he's awake at 3 AM is because he's sleeping all day, but you've probably already figured that out. You might have to bring him into your bed and impress on him that it's time to go to sleep. (This may take a few nights.) I'd also try feeding him a bit before you go to bed; he might be hungry.

He sounds like he still has lots of kitten; they're fun to play with, but you're right, they NEVER want to sleep!

12. He won't play with the toys
and we do spend plenty of play & cuddle time before I go to bed.

I'm trying. I'm thinking of getting a water gun and squirting him everytime he wakes me up. Maybe I can train him to be quieter

13. Water gun -- great idea!
>I'm trying. I'm thinking of getting a water gun and squirting him everytime he wakes me up. Maybe I can train him to be quieter<

The water gun (or a squirt bottle) will work just fine! When you squirt him, though, make a noise like the squirting sound. Even when you're not close to the water bottle or squirt gun, he'll associate the noise with the water he dislikes, and he will stop doing whatever it is that's working your last nerve. Our breeder told us about making the noise; it works really, really well, even when the water bottle's downstairs!

I hope that you'll get some sleep tonight, and kitty will start behaving like a gentleman!

Julie
