Verizon internet or local wireless?
I need a new ISP and you DUers always give such good advice! My choices (for $29.95 a month) are Verizon's DSL (I guess that's what it's called. Whatever V. offers on a phone line) and a well-respected local company's new wireless service. What do you think?

One consideration is that the wireless service will involve two very unattractive antennae to be installed outside my house (for $99).

1. I hate to recommend the corporate over the local...
...but quite honestly I've had Verizon for a year now, and it's been bulletproof...I've had possibly one or two times this year when it was down, and then only for a few minutes...My one problem with a password was fixed quickly when I called tech support, so I can recommend them pretty highly...

2. Bear in mind
that Verizon's offer of $30/month is only good for 3 months. In my area anyhow.

3. DSL is usually between $40-50/mo, as is cable modem
I've had both and right now I have cable modem. Both are good speed-wise.

4. Verizon DSL here
It's very reliable.

I've only called tech support once in the past 10 months, and even then the connection righted itself while I was on the phone with them.

It get's a little slow when it rains, but that's b/c the line down the street is exposed, the insulation is gone on some of it. They hope to replace it soon (have to get permission from the railroad which the worn place is near).

I can fix it usually by restarting the modem an/or the computer.

5. Do you have unlimited usage or are you charged per minute?
I'd love to know. I am trying to decide myself.

6. Unlimited
I'd be able to get unlimited Adelphia service, too, but I'm not considering them. Talk about losing service in the rain! (And talk about corporations!!)

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Going home for 2 weeks (where there's no internet--yet!)
