1. Damn! You give NICE gifts!
My parents get angry when I get too extravagant. I am buying my dad some nice earphones for his new protable DVD player. I'm getting him a couple movies as well. I have NO CLUE what to get mom.

No siblings to buy for. No kids, either.

6. Had good luck today
Here's mine.

a) both gone, so no presents for them. But I will raise a toast to them and see them in my families' faces.

b) No SO, so like the seagulls in "Finding Nemo", it's "Mine." "Mine." "Mine."

c) Grandniece is 1.5 years old, so get gets a Sit 'N Spin. Dad will have to put it together though.

Sister in law gets James Galway and Jean-Pierre Rampal CDs.

Sister gets sachets.

Niece gets different set of sachets (All handfilled by me)

Brother and Niece's husband get journals for documenting building their new houses.

Don't know what to do for my teenaged nephews though.

2. a) Nothing, b) I don't have any, and c) Nothing
I only exchange gifts with my husband and stepsons. (I don't count them as my kids; they aren't my kids, they're his.)

4. I had this great idea to get my mom DirectTV, she is on a
limited income and her cable bills are too high, she's been talking about it for months but hasn't done aything about it. Well I bought it and then found out that she gets back all the money I paid for it in a rebate check.

So now, I gave her a free gift?

Well, obviously she can use the money to get an extended warranty or pay the first few months of bills, but still, she is opening a free gift on Christmas!

I will probably get her a small luxury gift because I hate to be too practical.

5. I got my dad a bunch of tapes and DVDs ...
My folks have purchased a DVD/VCR, the first one they've ever had. (Given that they were born in the 1920s, this technology is "new" to them ...)

I also included a solar-powered emergency radio, in case of blackouts.

I'm an only child and don't have any kids ... but it's not like I get off easy (numerous friends living overseas, which pretty much compels me to buy stuff that costs more than the postage costs, to make it worthwhile!). This year I went for the local handicrafts -- I've been shipping handwoven shawls, pottery and glasswork, wood cutting boards, and even a couple of the political gargoyles I posted in another thread. The activists in the bunch get Michael Moore's or Molly Ivins's latest books thrown in.
