Pizza Hut or Pappa John's?
When Pappa John's came to town, I sang its praises and swore off Pizza Hut. Now I am beginning to turn back to Pizza Hut. Which do you prefer?

18. Pizza hut is a little on the crispy side like that
I definitely vote for local pizza, but in my small hometown, Pizza Hut is one of two chain options if you want any pizza at all, so I kinda like it. It's loads better than Papa John's IMHO.

That said, if available, local pizza almost always wins. I'm particularly partial to Upper Crust in Boston and Imo's in St. Louis.

I have tried it four times now...usually because I was out voted by a group ordering pizza.

22. In the very non-upscale town near Worcester, MA...
...I could have and indeed tried to go my whole life without ever setting foot in a chain restaurant and especially a fast-food joint. Local eateries are around, but not nearly to the same extent and they tend to be a bit pricey. Plus the national companies are everywhere. Not just restaurants either, but all kinds of businesses. One cannot spit without hitting a Wendys or a Rite-Aid.

23. I fully understand.
When I lived in that surburban neighborhood,
it was exactly like you describe.

Sundays, we spent the day at Walmart---
for food shopping!!

The residents described the area as
"working-class poor".

I didn't mind that so much though, I just really hated the fact that there were so many
chains...therefore no creativity. I probably had culture shock after never living anywhere
before except NYC.....I know we New Yorkers are spoiled.

20. Given those options and if you're talking just pizza
Papa Johns

But it's been years since I had it so I'm assuming it's the same style/quality. It was actually the closest to thing decent pizza we could get when we lived near St Louis.

But of course Pizza Hut gives you some other choices besides pizza, in fact (again when I lived near St Louis) my co-workers and I would go to Za-Hut for the lunch buffet often (and I would get teased for actually getting salad)

40. One of the local shops
I've eaten Pizza Hut, Papa John's, and yes even the evil that is Dominos. When I want real pizza and I'm at home, it's Steve's, when I'm at work it's Alfonso's or Dominick's. That said, there are plenty of awful local places too that would instantly send me back to one of the three chains I mentioned.

I would have to go with Papa John's. But there's a local place that blows away all of the chains. And my guess is that every town has a local place that blows away the chains and their assembly line pizzas.

52. Papa Johns sucks
I could eat one of their so-called large pizzas in three minutes.

Better toppings? I couldn't find any toppings.

Other than being too small and too expensive and too tasteless, I'd recommend it.

Pizza Hut pan is excellent for a chain pizza, IMO. Some toppings better than others. The veggie lovers always works best for me.

Whether it's those little 75 cent frozen grocery store brand pizzas that alot of people call shit on a shingle or a chicago style pizza from the original uno's in chicago. I will avoid Dominos from hearing to many horror stories, like neighbor of my grandparents who manages one and happens to be a druggie who got HIV from sharing needles.

56. Papa John's
They're thicker and tend to have better toppings, so I prefer them to Pizza Hut. The Papa John's in my town closed, though, so my favorite now is probably Mazzio's. The only other option is Domino's which has always been my least favorite (and that's not even considering the whole crazy right-wing connections I've heard they have/had.)
