Help! What does a 10-year-old girl want for Christmas?
We want to have a present for a ten (almost 11) year old girl who will be visiting us this Christmas. Something light-hearted and not too elaborate (<$25). It's been so long since our kids were that age that I can't remember the specific age.

Thanks for all thoughts.

1. A nice little purse
semi-grownup but not overtly so, inexpensive and easy to find. What little girl doesn't love a nice little purse?

14. A diary is one of the BEST gifts. I gave my step-daughter one
when she was 12 and she stills talks about it years later.

18. Thanks! I loved my little secret diary at that age
I would think this would be good for girly-girls and tomboys.

4. Grooming kits
Girls that age love baskets full of body spray, spritzers, sparkle body lotion, cleansers, toners, puma stones, sponges....

It's all about smelling good! (and sparkling)

6. And you might add nail polish.
That all good stuff, especially if you don't know her very well.

5. DVD of Freaky Friday
is the final thing going under the tree for my 10 year old big girl.

She also got Uggs, The Italian Job, Ferris Buellers' Day Off, cds of Outkast, and some other groups I can't remember, skateboard, monogrammed robe, socks, soap on a rope, a cute little Everlast sports kind of outfit, red converse tennies... a Baby Goth (?) and I'm SURE there is a ton of stuff I just can't remember!

7. It depends on the girl..
My daughters are 11 and 9, and they are very different. One would love purses, make-up, bath accessories, but the other is a tomboy and would not care for those things at all. How well do you know this girl? A diary is a great idea. DVDs and books are always great.

12. Here's a web site that recommends toys based on age group
http://www.toyportfolio.com/Index.asp

I found some good recommendations there for my 6 & 7 year old grandsons. You should find some appropriate toys there.

You all have made my life a little bit easier.

I love that so many tough-minded DUers have a soft spot in their heart for little (well, not so little) girls.

Thanks!!!
