Fuck all this crap. We're going to Canada. Tomorrow, next day,
next week, as soon as Mrs R's passport gets renewed. But it has to travel 8,000 miles to get renewed, then 8,000 miles back, so it's not like we can use FedEx Next Day.

A week, maybe a week and a half away from all the bullshit. For the first time in three years.

No newspapers. No radio news. No TV news. No Internet. Gonna go race Go-Karts every other day with my kid.

And stuff my face with Poutine!

5. Yes, it's wonderful. I can say that because I've only been there in the
winter once or twice. Not so wonderful at 20 below.

37. We're going up to Canada on the other side of the continent.
From Portland, OR to Victoria, B.C., Canada.

A couple of days in Seattle on either side.

Should be great fun in August (if it doesn't get to 92 degrees in Nanaimo, like it did last year).

Have fun, Redstone --

39. We're been there four times in the eight years we've lived in the NW.
Twice in summer, and twice in winter (Christmas to New Year's).

It was really a lot of fun!

9. I'll do that. Yes, it is paradise for us because we stay with Mrs R's
cousin, who is filthy rich. (Her husband is, actually.)

Nice to have no cares and not be allowed to spend a cent for a week or so.

And the best part? Even though the cousin's husband is THE #1 criminal-defense attorney in the country, he's a regular guy. And Mrs R's cousin, having grown up in abject poverty like Mrs R did, is also not snooty in the least.

They're just regular folks. I am SO looking forward to a week of decompression.

Though I will admit they're a hell of a lot more polite to americans than they were 30 years ago.

well...I told Mrs R that I know the only French I need..."Paralais-vous Anglais?"

Works every time.

10. Oh, yes, indeed. We go to a horse farm out in the country, where they
do horse rides and also have a go-cart track that's damn near a mile long.

And being Out There, they're not real picky about rules. Some of their Karts really rip!

Of course, I always turn in the lowest lap times, because I'm the only one who has driven in real car races. It was a damn long time ago, but it's like riding a bicycle...

and a brown gravy, served at molten temperature.

Saltier than a sailor, but strangely addictive.

And then there are the Michigan Burgers. I can't wait. I can hear my arteries snapping shut already.
