Poll question: Have You Exercised Today?
Edited on Mon Jul-24-06 04:42 PM by Jack_Dawson
And walking from your car to your cube does not count. And yes sex does count - if you were doing any work. Power walks count too. Yelling at the TV dos not count.

Normally I don't do biceps and triceps in the same day. Biceps would fall under my "pull" day and tri's my "push" day but you are probably ripped.

9. Certainly not
ripped, no. I've had good success with the smaller muscles doing supersets with opposing muscle groups. The bigger muscle groups (like back and chest) I do on days following each other.

The "push" and "pull" days you're using is sound science, though.

18. I try to walk
three times a day for twenty minutes each time, everyday. Not an easy thing to do in this balmy hot East Texas weather. If the heat index is over 100° I try and make up for it in the winter lol.

I have brought my blood pressure down from it's high of 178/111 to 130/80. Sadly I haven't lost an ounce of weight. Go figure!

36. Thanks for the kind words y'all.
No drugs, just brisk walking. This did not happen over night, but a steady build up over time. My Dr. and I had a heart-to-heart over my BP and how to bring it in inline with the new guidelines. After long debate, She agreed to let me try and bring it down with exercising and a heather diet. I keep a close watch on it along with taking better care of my kidneys. So far so good.

muscle, your weight may not change but your body will be firmer.

I live in FW too. I am doing WW and walking, and with 30 pounds off the walking is much much easier.

I have had a faulty thyroid for most of my life. I'm on the slow side now. My weight is crazy. Five years ago I lost 30 lbs. No diet, no exercise, no complaints. Now it's 5 lbs to the positive or negative, no matter what I do.

Congratulations on your weight loss.

It's easy on my knees and bad ankle, it's interesting, it's helps give me nice quads, and where else can you see foxes, baby groundhogs, huge tree fungi, and lots of deer? I do weight three times a week at the gym. It doesn't have a juice bar, though...

Do you do weights? All women should -- great for the bones...

39. Tres bien!
They are some old ladies that go to my gym (in their 80's), an dthey do some weights. Good for them! One of them asked me how to use the leg press machine one day. I put the pin at 30 lbs., and the lady gave me a withering look and said, "Do I look like a weakling?!" Oi. I quickly changed the weight for her...

53. Great for you but I got injured lifting weights 3 times a week, 12 reps
each, 2 sets. Repetetive motion my orthopedist said, resulting in a rotator cuff injury to the shoulder and "golfer's elbow."
It's been this way since last October! I've had 2 regimens of physical therapy and no really good results. Now I have sought out an accupuncturist, but nothing really good yet is happening.

I wish I could say my weight lifting was productive, but look what happened to me. I am 66 and I am on the treadmill every day (I can't do anything else except lift weights on machines with my legs, which I do) for 45 minutes @3.6 mph with 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down. I study my Italian lessons while I walk! So my fellow treadmillers are likely to hear the day's lesson "Oggi io e Fulvio andiamo a una partita di calcio" from me (today's was a little soccer story).

I'd like to get back to my aerobics classes, but without straining my affected arm, I can't do them (doctors say no). Just a warning to women who think they can just go and do weight lifting wihtout consequences. BTW, I took a course offered by a local hospital on the correct way to lift weights for seniors -- didn't do me much good.

70. As did I!
Running on treadmills or paved roads is for suckers! When I run through the woods I actually have a good time, it feels so primal like I'm running from something, running somewhere, or even after something. I run faster, harder, and longer through the woods challenging myself to sprint up hills, and navigate through the puttles and over the creeks.

I'm actually looking foward to doing another round tommorow morning.

56. yes. i actually went out this morning and walked for about 30 minutes
before getting ready for work.

My hike to the cube from car is actually a good 5 minutes if I am pushing it. I deliberately park at the far side of the lot because I get that little extra bit of walking in AND because there is shade there in the evening.

I bought a pedometer last week, so am now making an effort to increase the amount of walking that I do. I need to walk more for the arthritis and weight loss.

71. Just got back from my walk.
I walk about 20 miles a week, but had not been able to get out the last three night because it was too freakin' hot. This was the first night since last Thursday I could get out.

72. No, but
I spent the last two weeks walking in San Francisco (yay for huge hills), mountain hiking near Lake Tahoe, walking the entire Universal Studios themepark in recordbreaking heat, and (in true SoCal style) traversing a ginormous mall...so I'm not feeling very guilty about taking today off.

76. Wear a pedometer waking hours
my goal is 10000/day. Now I am usually making it.
My exercise this week in addition to walking is summer cleaning the house and sending a pile of junk to the donation station....
